This morning I received a new email from Family Tree DNA. I have another 111-Marker Y-DNA match. This is the 7th 111-Marker, with Genetic Distance between 6 and 10, and the surname of all 7 is Fallis/Follis.

The other 4 are Seymour, Ware, and Robinson.

You'll note that there is not one Smith.

I wonder if my surname Smith could have been different at some point in time?

Just used the FTDNA TiP calculator. It estimates that there is a 91% chance that there is a common ancestor between me, Smith, and Follis in 12 generations or 300 years. And that is for the close 111-marker Y-DNA match with a genetic distance of 6.

TiP is an abbreviation for Time Predictor. TiP is a proprietary tool provided by Family Tree DNA which allows for a probabilistic comparison between two Y-STR haplotypes to determine the time to the most recent common ancestor (TMRCA). The program incorporates marker-specific mutation rates to increase the power and precision of the TMRCA estimates. (from International Society of Genetic Genealogy Wiki).

That calculates back to about 1718, which would mean at our 6- or 7-times Great-Grandfather’s generation. But all-things-being-equal this is only a possibility of a probability.

And I’ll just keep searching.

According to The Family Tree DNA Learning Center and using a Y-DNA 111-marker test, a Genetic Distance of Relevant Matches are genetic distance of 0 through 10.

Days 485 & 486 – (AD 1,645) – 23.6 +23.6 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yesterday I pedaled 23.6 miles. Today I cycled 23.6 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals are now 35,534.3 miles; 57,187.0 kilometers.

I am now located at 81.92% to my new destination, Eumenides Dorsum.

One of the best supper I've ever composed - Ricotta, Zucchini, and Spinach Dumplings on Garlic Tomato Basil Sauce.

I haven't in a good many years, but tonight I think I will attempt a Quiche Lorraine.

Quilting – https://quiltsb.blogspot.com/

Our “Two Hallways” will be on exhibit Today through and including September 30.

Location – Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library at 2902 W Bearss Avenue, Tampa, Florida.

Our Cranes Quilt Bedspread Update -

Day 3 - The 1st part of our quilting, outlining the 25 Cranes, has been completed.

Part 2 was to stitch in the ditch in the very long sashing strips. This will definitely help to stabilize the 3 parts of the quilt sandwich. Completed.

Next, Part 3 is to pebble the entire length, approximately 106”, of each of the 6 sashing strips. (Alliteration not intended.)

Andy and Jim are amazed at how the simplicity of this extremely large composition appears to be touching many genres of quilting techniques.

Day 4 - All strips have been pebbled, that’s Part 3 of our quilting design.

We now have moved on to Part 4, the quilting of the 5 6-inch spaces between the pebbled strips. We are creating a geometric motif as a part of our quilting design. The approximate area is 3,180 square inches. We have not yet completed 1/2 of that area.

Part 5 covers an additional 5,512 square inches.

And yes, there is a continuous hum of our Janome.

19 + 2 Quilts designed and waiting, no pun intended, in the wings.

Yes, Andy and I only have 10 days, which started yesterday August 21, to design, create, construct, quilt, and deliver a twin-size Cranes Quilt Bedspread for the Florida CraftArt “At Home with Craft” exhibit.

The exhibit opens privately to sponsor RE/MAX METRO on September 6 and publicly on September 7.

Praise be that we just had 25 Cranes already made of which we were trying to figure out what type of Cranes Quilt we should design and make.

Day 1 – Design and layout completed. Center section of the Bedspread Quilt top has been sewn.

I'm looking for the best Fried Chicken in the Tampa Bay area. I will not include any major franchise restaurant.

Today at lunch I tried RyRy's Chicken and Waffles on 30th Street in Tampa.

This will be, since it is my first, my targeted standard.

At this point I will not be ranking RyRy's. Stay-tuned and if you have any suggestion please let me know.
