Day 92 – (AD 997) – 24.0 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Another Month On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled 24.0 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals – 21,103.2 miles; 33,962.4 kilometers. And another month and another hurricane season gone by.

According to Google Maps I am located at D61, 83310 Grimaud, France.

November 30 - Date to remember –

In 1707 the 2nd siege of Pensacola comes to an end with the British failure to capture Pensacola, Florida from the Spanish. Just wondering who was here first, after the original Native Americans, of course.

And notably, Lucille Ball married Desi Arnaz in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Just something to think about…

Day 91 – (AD 996) – 23.9 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I did not want to get on my Schwinn 170, but I did. This morning I thought of reducing my resistance, but I didn’t. Still 15/25. This morning I contemplated reducing the time I would pedal, but I didn’t. I cycled 72 minutes, and I pedaled the equivalent of 23.9 miles. I did reduce my mileage from yesterday by 0.1 miles. I might have to make that up tomorrow.

My grand totals are now clocked at 21,079.2 miles; 33,923.7 kilometers.

I am sort of traveling in a westerly and sort of southerly direction in France. This morning I am now located at 5 Rue Chemin Saint-Roch, 83340 Flassans-sur-Issole.

Question – Why are some people so open on their sites and in social media to invite others to correspond electronically via email or other means, and then do not take the time to respond and answer back?

Another question – If I do not respond ever, why do I keep receiving email requests to send me a beautiful Russian lady as possible matrimonial prospects?

My after pedaling lunch-snack - home-made Hummus on No-Knead White Bread. I am a convert.

Day 90 – (AD 995) – 24.0 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled another 24 miles on my Schwinn 170. (Yes, this is a recording.) My totals have now reached 21,055.3 miles; 33,885.3 kilometers. And I am four days shy of 3 years pedaling on my Schwinn Fitness cycles. Not bad if I say so myself.

This morning I am, virtually, located on the DN7 at 83470 Pourcieux, France. Just about 52 more miles to my next destination and goal point.

My cycling and viewing companion is Amazon’s 2015 The Man in the High Castle, based on the novel by Phillip K. Dick. It is an alternate history set in 1962, 15 years after World War II was won by the Germans, Japanese, and Italian. The novel features a “novel within a novel” comprising of another alternate history within this alternate history. Somewhat confusing, but definitely spellbinding and mesmerizing.

Loaf #63 just went into the oven. This time Sourdough White Whole Wheat with Flax Seeds.

Day 89 – (AD 994) – 23.5 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Yes, On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This late morning I pedaled 23.5 miles on my Schwinn 170. My totals are now: 21,031.3 miles; 33,846.7 kilometers.

Today I am located at 3657 Route de Berre, 13090 Aix-en-Provence, France.

Guess I have a party going on in my brain.

Ted-Ed – How playing an instrument benefits your brain – Anita Collins

Early morning blood sugar up 12 points.

Yes it is the day after Thanksgiving and yes the small spike could be the fact that I had three full helpings of turkey and trimmings…but I think the upward change was more than likely the late, late night regular-size Wawa Chocolate Chocolate Chip Frozen Cappuccino with an extra shot of Espresso. And of course, hold the whipped cream.

What can I say? My count was 111. At least I didn’t hide the chocolate in the dark corners of my house. And yes, I am not a Chocoholic.

And I would like to introduce you to Fred SDS. He’s been hanging around this house for a good 3 months; sometimes in the fridge, sometimes on the counter. He’s on a weekly cold diet; or on a daily RT diet, whichever comes first.

Next loaf of Artisan No-Knead – Sourdough, (thanks Fred), White Whole Wheat Flax Seed. Mixed and set for the next 12 to 18 hours.

Fred fed.

Day 88 - (AD 993) - 24.0 Miles - Jim's Trek Part IV - 21,007.8 Miles On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today is Thanksgiving, and I just surpassed 21,000 miles by 7.8 on my Schwinn 170. I have now completed 84.4% of my overall pedaling journey. Happy Thanksgiving.

And I am located in France at D113, 13300 Salon-de-Provence. Today I completed 2,018.3 miles on Part IV of my Trek.

I have now been following my journey, real and virtual, pedaling and fantasy, for 1,089 days; pedaling for 993 days.

All-things-being-equal I have another 120 miles more to go to get to my next destination and goal point.

Yes two more loaves of the No-Knead variety #s 61 and 62 are out of the oven. Four more to go and this becomes my habit.

Today’s fare – White Whole Wheat Raisin and White.

Received a call from 518-320-7747 from Albany, New York…and as I was not expecting any call from that location, the robo-operator started “This is a return call for that back-brace you requested from an ad on TV…

Hell, NO. Period.

Day 87 ½ – (AD 992 ½) – 0.0 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Day of Rest On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

On this 8th day I rest. I am not pedaling today on my Schwinn 170. Period.

At this point in time, all I can say about my cycling 992 days is that I am 16.2 miles off of a grand total of 21,000 miles. So do not even think that I will be stopping.

The boardwalk is now pressure-washed and sealed. Some major branches from our oak trees in the front trimmed, and new sod laid. Yes this is still Florida, with the current threat of flurries.

Just got a call from Animal Control. They are today going to be visiting the owners of the dog(s) that attempted to get into my house.

All-things-being equal the owners, whether or not they actually own the dog(s) or not but are in possession of the dog(s)s, could be cited for dog(s) at large "because they were not invited on to my property whether or not on a leash." Definitely something to know.

Animal Control, will also be checking for shots and inoculations. The owners/possessors/sitters of the dogs could be charged a fine and be required to appear in court as may be allowable under the law.

Harvard Business Review had an interesting short article by Thomas Chamorro-Premuzic yesterday – The Dark Side of Creativity.

Few psychological traits are as desirable as creativity — the ability to come up with ideas that are both novel and useful.” And AQ and JG, I have been wondering and wondering. Where the hell is my mirror?

The new owner of our three quilt projects – Mother’s Treasures; Son Shine; and Daughter Light certainly seemed pleased with our work. We’re glad. Makes for a good start of the day. Stay tune for details and images at Quilts SB for our write-up. (http://quiltsb.blogspot.com/)

Loaves numbered 57, 58, 59, and 60 all baked. No this house is not; it just smells like a bakery.

#s 57 & 58 - White No-Knead

#s 59 & 60 - White Whole Wheat
Numbers 61 and 62 are prepped for the oven tomorrow; White and White Whole Wheat Raisin.

Day 87 – (AD 992) – 23.6 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Yes I Am Continuing On My Schwinn 170

Good Late Afternoon,

Yes I pedaled this morning on my Schwinn 170 and I pedaled another 23.6 miles. I was thinking about taking the pedaling off due the number of errands I had but I knew that I would regret it if I didn’t. So the part that was regulated to the back seat is the writing, not the cycling and not the errands.

My grand totals now stand at 20,983.8 miles; 33,770.2 kilometers. Check out the mileage.

I am located at D572N, 13200 Arles, France. It looks like I am headed in an easterly direction.

From my calculations I believe I have 15.7% of my journey remaining, and that’s of the journey that I began on December 2, 2012.  And yes the shadow is the Google Mobile with the camera recording perched on top.

Found this image of a button. I’m not going to say apropos, but then again I’m not going to say that it is not.

My early morning blood sugar dropped 9 points this morning and I recorded 97.

Found this chart on WebMD and it is the consideration of blood sugar levels for adults with diabetes.

My drop this morning could be from last night super Scrapple Scalloped Potato Casserole and Spinach and Garlic Salad.

The Scrapple Scalloped Potatoes looked good in the casserole dish and fresh out of the oven.  (KF and SP you should try and make this.)

Once served, it reminded me of a form of homemade Hamburger Helper for someone without a steady and fixed pair of dentures. Tasted good, but I definitely was feeling my age.

All three new quilts – Mother’s Treasures; Son Shine; and Daughter Light have been completed. They will make their way to their new homes here in Florida.

Day 86 – (AD 991) – 23.5 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Montpellier, France On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 23.5 miles on my Schwinn 170. Grand totals tallied – 20,960.2 miles; 33,732.2 kilometers.

I made it to Montpellier. This is the 19th short goal on my list of such destinations and goal points. This is how I make up my virtual journey in my Jim’s Trek Part IV.

I continued on for another 14.4 miles and I am now located. 62 Chemin des Amoureux, 34400 Lunel, France

Just wondering if elections and campaigns could be expected to change to curtail the negative and only allow the positive expectations of the candidates. My suggestion would be that each time a candidate highlights a negative attribute of another participant s/he would move further and further away from being accepted as the ultimate leader and winner of the election.

About time an article about the upcoming and current 2016 Presidential campaigning that makes sense - Thank you Seth Millstein of Bustle... "Now, here’s why this poll means approximately diddly squat."

Quilting update - Both images of children have been transferred to fabric and appliqued to each quilt - Son Shine and Daughter Light

Day 85 – (AD 990) – 23.8 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Cournonterral, France On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

On my 990th day, of pedaling, I cycled another 23.8 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals – 20,936.7 miles; 33,694.4 kilometers.

Yes I am consistent. It appears that I am now averaging 21.14818182 miles per pedaling day. And I still have 15.9% of my overall journey left to complete.

Today I am at 76 Avenue de la Liberté, 34660 Cournonterral, France, population 5,700.

I’m traveling, virtually of course, eastward. My next destination and goal point is about 9 miles.

Early morning blood sugar up 10 points this morning to 113. Overindulgence of pizza and ice cream; hell what should I expect. Nine slices and six scoops.

Son Shine, Daughter Light, Mother’s Treasures – quilting completed, binding attached. Left to complete – Hand-stitch binding, appliqué son and daughter, labels.

I just had to show you a cross view cut of Loaf #56.

I’m just getting tired of closed minded people. The discussion was why learn another language, English is all that I (they) need.

And here are 10 reasons why –

10. Impress people around you
9. Develop confidence
8. Improve your decision making skills
7. Increase your brain power
6. Completely transform your travel experience
5. Improve your employability
4. Study or live overseas
3. Become more open-minded
2. Discover a new culture
1. Meet new people and develop life-long friendships

Day 84 – (AD 989) – 23.6 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Trying To Be Peaceful On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled another 23.6 miles on my Schwinn 170.

I can honestly say that pedaling has given me that time of day when I can just do without thinking too, too much. Oh yes, I my viewing companion, sans commercials, is the series Gotham. It is dark. It is violent. But it is my escape…while I cycle.

My totals are now at: 20,912.9 miles; 33,356.1 kilometers.

According to Google Maps I am now located, the virtual part of my journey, on a back road, D124, Route de Valmascle, 34800 Cabrières, France.

I know it’s the media but who is Dr. Ben Carson think he is fooling, (apart from himself), when the byline from the Boston Herald reads “Ben Carson calls for database of all foreigners in US”.

My question -  From what point in time? From yesterday? Starting tomorrow? From 10 years ago? From before the Civil War? With the landing of the Mayflower?

Son Light update - The body of the sun and the background sky have been quilted. All the clothing on the lines has been outlined. Next the landscape and the addition of the Son.

This morning, two neighbors’ large dogs, (new neighbors), attempted to crash through one of the screens of my house and get at our dogs who were inside the house. Case of canine break and entry. And, yes the large dogs look like they have some Pit Bull Terrier in their make. I’m sorry but I had to hit one of the dogs on the head to stop it from jumping through and continuing on through the broken screen.

Yes that’s Max, who’s about 7-times smaller than the size of the interloper dog, checking out the window.

And the neighbor’s additional comment is what caused my blood pressure to increase. “Well, it probably was the one that isn’t my dog.” The stupidity and common-place of some people.

Day 83 – (AD 988) – 23.6 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – On My Schwinn 170

Good Evening,

Yes I pedaled my Schwinn 170 23.6 miles this morning. Yes, it is late tonight as I am writing up my journey. Yes I am still continuing the journey. My grand totals – 20,889.3 miles; 33,618.1 kilometers.

I am located at D908, 34390 Mons, France.
