Days 251 – (AD 1,413) – 20.5 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Have you ever woken up on a morning and felt that you were either in the wrong place and time?

First, I made sure that I was in my correct world and dimension and then this morning I pedaled 20.5 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals now are at 29,962.1 miles; 48,219.4 kilometers.

I have completed 98.9 % of the distance to my next destination. Only 4.84 miles to go.

My opinion – P.F. Chang’s versus Yummy House

Last night had supper at P.F. Chang’s. My opinion, the food at Yummy House on Water’s and at Yummy House China Bistro on Hillsborough is, by a stretch far, far superior to that offered at P.F. Chang’s. Further, the prices at both Yummys are half the price.

Days 250 – (AD 1,412) – 20.3 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

On this extremely wet morning, I pedaled, indoors, of course, my Schwinn 170 another 20.3 miles. Totals are now at 29,941.6 miles; 48,186.4 kilometers.

And I have completed 94.2% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

Looks like I’ve got to start searching for the next one. I am keeping my eye on Fournier Crater. According to Wolfram Alpha, it is approximately 580 miles from Liris Valles, sort of in a north-east direction.

Soapbox –

Is there any significance to the 222nd Day? According to FiveThirtyEight the weighted average of consolidated polls has #45’s lowest approval rating of 36.9%.

And the trend has continued to move on DOWN the slope. #45 continues to rank lower than President Gerald Ford, who was ranked one of the lowest on the approval rating scale.

I have this angst against franchised restaurants and their fast foods. As you may already know I like to eat, and I like to cook…but I also like to try different types of cuisines. Even though I do eat at them, franchised foods are not something that I hold at a high esteem when thinking of good food.

And then I read this story on USA Today – “Couple Finished Quest to Eat At Every Cracker Barrel In USA”. (Jessica Bliss, Aug. 28, 2017).  It took them 40 years and an estimated 5 million miles.

“They ate their favorite meals — meatloaf and pancakes and grilled chicken sandwiches — in the most obscure of places: Duncan, S.C., and Layton, Utah, and Baraboo, Wis.”

My own opinion withheld. Each to their own.

And in an attempt to satiate my appetite, I’ll probably be making some sort of Poutine dish for supper tonight. Maybe Tater Tot Poutine.

Days 249 – (AD 1,411) – 20.4 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – Passed 5,000 Miles on Mars On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning the odometer on my Schwinn 170 turned 5,019.7 miles as part of Jim’s Trek Part V. Yes, this morning I pedaled another 20.4 miles. My grand totals now stand at 29,921.3 miles; 48,153.8 kilometers.

And I have completed 89.6% of the distance to my next destination on Mars.

Made two loaves of No-Knead Bread – Pumpkin Seed and Raisin.

Days 247 & 248 – (AD 1,409 & 1,410) – 40.2 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yesterday I pedaled 20.0 miles and today 20.2 on my Schwinn 170. Yes, I’m still going. Totals now are getting closer. And now they stand at 29,900.9 miles; 48,120.9 kilometers.

And this morning I have completed 85.0% of the distance to my destination and goal point.

I had to pause everything and spend the day dealing with Spectrum, formerly Bright House, with which I had had a relationship since 1984. The new Spectrum wanted to increase my monthly billing almost $30.00 a month without any changes to or upgrades to my current service. On Spectrum’s part, there was no, not one iota of a consideration for the longevity of my account. And I’ll be damned.

And while I was at it with Spectrum I decided also to examine my current, long-standing AT&T account. By the time I have finished and getting the exact same service, I have switched to Verizon and Frontier with a sizeable savings of approximately $120+ per month.

No more Spectrum! No more AT&T. Any shred of loyalty has gone out the window.

Day 246 – (AD 1,408) – 19.8 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – Curb The Cheese On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 19.8 miles on my Schwinn 170. Yes, I’m still going. Totals now are getting closer. And now they stand at 29,860.7 miles; 48,056.2 kilometers.

And this morning I have completed 75.8 % of the distance to my destination and goal point.

Early morning blood sugar count was up at 130 mg/dL. Guess I’ve got to stop snacking on too, too much cheese. I love cheese, and when I start I just can’t stop. All-things-being equal there is 28 grams of carbohydrates in one slice of Cheddar Cheese.

I just couldn’t stop. And then I ate supper, double helpings of course. Supper was very, good.

From Rolling Stone by Matt Tabbi, Aug 21, 2017 “Why Trump Can’t Quit the Alt-Right.

“Well, it's over now – right? He may have three and a half years left in office, but Donald Trump is finished. The Charlottesville tragedy was the final stake through the Grinch-heart of his presidency. If he didn't deserve it so enormously much, it would be sad...
...Trump has shown, once again, that his power to bring out the worst in people is limitless. And we should know by now that he's never finished, never beaten. Historically, he's most dangerous when he's at his lowest. And he's never been lower than now.”

And then today, August 23, Julie Hirschfeld Davis of The New York Times reports “Trump to Congress: Fund the Wall or I’ll Shut the Government.

“President Trump issued an extraordinary challenge to his own party late Tuesday, threatening to shut down the government in a matter of weeks if Congress did not fund a wall on the southern border that was a signature promise of his campaign for the White House.”

Day 245 – (AD 1,407) – 21.1 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning for some reason I was up with the post-eclipsed sun. I walked The Pack and then decided that today I was going to make bread. I’ve got three types in various stages – Bran Bread; 8-Grain Bread; and Egg and Oil White Bread. All versions are using the no-knead version. And the house smells fantastic.

And then I got on my Schwinn 170 and pedaled 21.1 miles. Totals now stand at 29,840.9 miles; 48,024.4 kilometers. My completed percentage is now 78.11%.

This morning I have completed 71.3% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

Right now, we’re beginning the work on a portfolio of quilts. Any ideas? Who knows where this will lead us.

Day 244 – (AD 1,406) – 20.7 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning is August 21 and Audrey III through XII in anticipation of 2:49 pm here in Tampa.

Today I pedaled my Schwinn 170 20.7 miles. Totals 29,819.8 miles; 47,990.4 kilometers.

And I have covered 66.5% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

This morning my A1c dropped another point. It’s got to keep going and the downward trend. (The calculation is worked on the average of my early morning glucose blood count over a moving period of 90 days plus 46.7 all divided by 28.7.)

Last night’s supper came directly from Daisy Martinez, Daisy Cooks! Grandma’s Spaghetti with Chicken and Garlic Bread. (pages 156 and 157). Damn good!

Just wondering why I felt sort of blah today. Could be the eclipse of the sun. Check my biorhythms.

In general, a rhythm at 0% is thought to have no real impact on your life, whereas a rhythm at +100% (a high) would give you an edge in that area, and a rhythm at -100% (a low) would make life more difficult in that area. There is no particular meaning to a day on which your rhythms are all high or all low, except the obvious benefits or hindrances that these rare extremes are thought to have on your life.

Day 243 – (AD 1,405) – 21.0 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled my Schwinn 170 for my allotted 1 hour and recorded 21.0 more miles. Totals now at 29,799.1 miles; 47,957.1 kilometers. The best number of my calculations Is that I finally have completed 78.00% of my intended journey.

Meanwhile, on Mars, I have finished 61.8% of 440 miles to my next goal point.

Tried something completely different for supper last night – Moosewood’s Huevos Rancheros.

It’s almost a complete vegetarian meal, depending on whether you call eggs not vegan. I believe the term is “Ovo-vegetarian”. Check out “Types of Vegetarians” by Jolinda Hackett at The Spruce.

Wondering if they give out certificates or diplomas.

Question – Recently I “do not have permission to delete this item(s)” on my iPhone via my PC. Previously I was able. Previously I had “Administrative” control, now it is telling me that I don’t. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Day 242 – (AD 1,404) – 20.7 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This late morning, I pedaled my Schwinn 170 20.7 miles. Totals now at 29.778.1 miles; 47,923.3 kilometers. Anticipation is mounting at the odometer turning the 30-thousand-mile mark.

And I have now completed 57.1% of the distance to my next destination.

This morning in our entrance somehow a large dragonfly got inside.

I have always been intrigued by dragonflies. Not the darning-needle types, but the ones which are a beauty of creation.

I put it on the kitchen counter fearing that one of The Pack would think that it was a tasty morsel. It looked like it had seconds to exist.

It then crawled up on my finger and then jumped to my shirt. I then took it outside and placed it carefully on a fern-leaf on a palm in the sun.

It rested for a bit.

Then flew away.

There’s more to worry about than the media scooping the stories concerning statues and inanimate objects.

Day 241 – (AD 1,403) – 21.2 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled 21.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals are 29,757.4 miles; 47,890.0 kilometers.

And I completed 52.4% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

I’m beginning to see my A1c calculation move in a downward direction. This morning the number was 6.59%. On August 4th I topped at 6.66%, which was the highest my A1c has ever been

And yes I know I have diabetes. I'm just to ensure I take control.

Last night’s supper was a Shrimp and Strawberry Salad. I sort of followed an Old-Bay Shrimp Salad recipe that I found on line and sort of up the ante a wee bit. Instead of mayonnaise and lemon juice for the dressing, I used some Tzatziki Sauce, Lemon Juice, and Olive Oil.

I’ve been asked several pointed questions regarding Andy and my quilting processes. Stay tuned for the questions and the answers.

Thoughts today –

Just wondering whether I am practicing on my piano enough or not enough as I daydream I am seeing music and following the sequences of 1/8th notes.

Still monitoring my diabetes and trying to figure out what is a good glucose meter. My doctor now has me trying Kit #3. Must have to do with the type that is covered by my medical insurance company.

Update to MTBD - Most of the quilting is done. Yes, it was done on a domestic machine. Just a little bit more and then the appliqué.

Working on genealogy can be somewhat confusing. Which GGG-Grandaunt Marie Anne (née Schwimmer) Brunhammer is which?

Day 238 – (AD 1,400) – 21.1 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – 1,400th Day On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today on my 1,400th day of pedaling a Schwinn Fitness Cycle I cycled another 21.1 miles. Total 29,693.6 miles; 47,787.3 kilometers.

And I have now completed 37.9% of the distance to my next destination and goal point on Mars.

Overall, I have completed 77.7% of the total mileage distance I am charged myself with completing.

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

Well, I tried something new for supper, Syracuse Salt Potatoes. Where have I been? I also accompanied that with Sauerkraut and Andouille Sausage.

Experimented today with a new concoction for a loaf of No-Knead Bread; Herbes de Provence Sourdough.

The aroma of freshly baked bread with the essence of Herbes of Provence definitely is a plus.

And in the mail today, I received a nice and small bonus check from the State of Florida. Lost funds found! Hey, I like today.

And the media is now enticing the panic buttons. Tampa Bay Times, Howard Altman, August 11, 2017 – “This is what a nuclear attack on MacDill would look like.

Something to think about -

This past Friday, without any problem finding a parking spot, I went to The Fresh Market at N. Dale Mabry and Fletcher. Days gone by it would have been almost impossible to find a spot for my car. Also, the aisles at The Market would have been crowded.

Ghost City! Looks like Sprouts, N. Dale Mabry and Carrollwood Springs Blvd, has certainly crimped their style. Further, I did notice that the prices on some items, especially the bulk items, at The Fresh Market were anywhere from 25-to-33% more expensive.

My prediction – The Fresh Market will be gone. Trader Joe’s in…possibly. Just a thought.
