Day 233 – (AD 663) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.2 Miles – 5,000 Miles Plus On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled 21.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. And this morning I broke two more goals.

  • The first - 5,020.7 miles on my Part III; grand total 13,637.8 miles, 21,948.0 kilometers.
  • The second - 54,006 Pageviews; an average of 77 per day over 698 days. I now only have 45.23% of my overall Trek to go.

I am still, yes still, in Western Australia on the virtual part of my journey. I am still, yes still, located, marker "B", on Gibb River Road. I just cross over Bamboo Creek. No drag-on-image-little-man yet.

My "Golden Ticket", my health and a sense of personal accomplishment. Period.

Work continues on our two crochet projects.

Afghan #5 - All blocks are sewn together. (No machine involved.) Now to tuck in the loose ends and crochet the border(s).

Afghan #7 - The length continues to grow. Am working on border design.

Thank you for the compliment, "Everything you do, is always different and exciting." Thank you.

Be healthy and enjoy... Don't eat too much chocolate.

Day 232 – (AD 662) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.3 Miles – I Had To Ride My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled another 22.3 miles on my Schwinn 170. And today I hit a new total of 13,616.6 miles; 21,913.8 kilometers.

Still no close up images available on my virtual Trek. I am still on the Gibb River Road and headed in a sort of north-westerly direction. According to my quick calculations I should be able to make it to my next destination and goal point in about 15 days.

I'm just wondering about the fish-bone like dirt roads, sort-of, of the main road. And there is about another 104 miles until the little drag-on-man reappears.

I crashed my PC yesterday. This time it is my fault. I did it. I thought I was being smart trying to clean up the start-up programs. Not paying attention and thinking way to bloody fast, I hit the wrong button. And I got a "system overload" type error.

I lost the sound. I lost my internet connections. I lost the updating capabilities. And I took it into the fix-it shop. So you know what that means...NO desktop PC for a while. Damn!

I have a couple of questions but I am not sure how to ask them.  Accordingly Google has got to pay.  Just wondering whether in Canadian or American funds?

But the questions that I would definitely like to ask -

How much did Le Journal de Montreal pay for the pictures?

And to whom?

I tried it and I ate it. And it was so, so easy to make and it was so, so good. Fresh gnocchi, pancetta, garlic, olive oil, half-and-half, Parmesan cheese, spinach, nutmeg, salt and pepper.  (No I did not make the gnocchi. I haven't summoned up the courage.)

Google records 53,914 pageviews this morning. Still doing okay as a crazy blog and Trek journal.

Please feel free to contact me via email with any thoughts, ideas, comments, questions at Jim's Trek.

Enjoy and be healthy,

Day 231 – (AD 661) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.8 Miles – Leg Power Needed On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 21.8 miles on my Schwinn 170.

I am still in Western Australia and I am still located on Gibb River Road. I am certainly glad that I do not have to stop for gas on this road. I would presume that any drive requires that an extra container of gasoline be carried. I am now 673 miles from my next destination and goal point. I’m just looking for a change of scenery… I do miss the little Goggle drag-on-man.

And this is how my beginning and ending points appear today from 2 miles up.

I have now completed 54.59% of my total and intended Trek and pedaling goal.

Why is it that politics, local, national or international, all provide me with visions of the spinning ballets of Fantasia?  Methinks it is the Kissimmie effect.

I need to revamp and schedule our quilting and crocheting projects.

Day 230 – (AD 660) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.0 Miles – Heading North On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Back on my Schwinn 170 this morning, I pedaled 22.0 miles in 1 hour and 12 minutes. Grand total miles to date – 13,572.5; kilometers – 21,842.9.

I am still, and it appears that it will NEVER end, on the Gibb River Road. Still no sign of the little drag-on-image man who works for Google. I can’t figure out what the clearing with the couple of possibly cultivated rows are just north of the road.

I now have 695 more miles to go to get to my next destination and goal point.

My blood sugar jumped up 2 points to 107 this morning. I had a craving for Hank’s Pulled Chicken, Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Pickles, Collard Greens, Potato Salad, and Corn Bread. And then I had to have some yogurt from Yogurt Mountain. And even after my 5-hour walk in the woods at Withlacoochee Reserve I was able to maintain. Looks like this week I have got to check out my food and meals to try and drop by at least 10 points.

Competition begins in a new phase for the continued cut of the electronic payment pie – Google Wallet versus Apple Pay versus CurrentC versus Bitcoin. Get ready for the games…and the confusion. Today’s article from the British site the Inquirer.netUS retailers shunning Apple Pay in favour of QR code-based system.

Immediate work in progress – Quilts: NT Celebration; Equality; Moon Over Bayshore. Afghans #5; #7.

November 4th cannot arrive quickly enough. Period. And then the shenanigans will begin all over again.

Day 229 ½ – (AD 659 ½) – Jim's Trek Part III – 0.0 Miles – Alternate Exercise Today - I Went For A Walk

Good Day,

Today I decided not to cycle on my Schwinn 170. Instead I was invited to join a group of friends to go for a short hike at the Withlacoochee State Forest.

And yes I walked; we walked 8.9 miles today on the Blue and Orange trails at Tucker Hill.

And we didn’t get lost. I can trust people.

I haven’t done such a trek since the day that I completed my last and final requirement for my Queen’s Scout requirement at Camp Tamaracouta in Quebec some 50 years ago. Oh and I did get lost then. But I was found and I did actually complete the Trek and I did get my Queen’s Scout emblem which presented to me by the late Governor General of Canada Georges Vanier.

FYI, the Queen’s Scout Award in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, and the British Commonwealth is equivalent to the Eagle Scout of the USA.

And my legs are a wee bit stiff this evening.

Day 229 – (AD 659) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.1 Miles – Nothing to See on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

First thing, Tinker, blood, and John Crows. Early this morning Tinker did not like the John Crows at the Popeye’s dumpster. No we were not ferreting around the dumpsters at Popeye’s.

Tinker had an appointment to give blood for testing for her pending tooth extraction. The things we do and go through for these dogs.

So this 10-lb. little Rat Terrier is standing there in the parking lot scolding, in her yapping way, at these half dozen or more vultures that definitely appeared to be larger than her puny little size. And all flew off.

And then when we returned home I got on my Schwinn 170 and I pedaled another 22.1 miles. My total is now up to 13,550.5 miles; 21,807.5 kilometers.

The road and my B-marker location on Gibb River Road are still in a visual quarantine. What can I say? I’m pretty sure that there is not much to see but red dirt and desert scrub.

Grandpa spent a couple hours this morning at the Grandson’s school Fall School Festival… There were a number of knee-and ankle-biters scurrying around in costume. Pizza, Doritos, and Halloween.

Jim’s Trek counted 53,308 Pageviews. It appears that my blog is still averaging about 76 Pageviews a day.

Day 228 – (AD 658) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.1 Miles – Seeing Nobody on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Had to take two dogs to the vet’s, (not Bella) and completed a number of errands to run this morning.

I pedaled 22.1 miles on my Schwinn 170 this afternoon. I have now cycled a total of 13,528.7 miles; 21,771.9 kilometers.

I am currently located, still in the no image range of Gibb River Road in Western Australia. I think I have about another 190 miles before the little drag-on-man returns. And then it looks like I’ve got another 60 miles after that before I finally get out of Western Australia.

And I am more and more amazed at the population distribution and density of Australia.

A guesstimate from OpenSecrets.org is that for these present elections the amount being spent is somewhere of $4.0 billion. Consider the Isle of Man. It has, based on a 2007 estimate, a GDP of $4.0 billion… and that is a population of about 87,000.

(And just for comparison Tuvalu has a GDP of $65 ½ million per year, the lowest.. The US – almost $17 trillion.)

And political ads SUCK!!!

Day 227 – (AD 657) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.7 Miles – Still on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I celebrate the number 13,500.

This morning I cycled 21.7 miles on my Schwinn 170. And today I topped a further distance pedaling on my fitness cycle. I have now pedaled a total of 13,506.3 miles; 21,736.3 kilometers.

And yes the little drag-on-man of Google Maps is not working. Actually he's working. I just think that the section of this road, the one that I am on in Western Australia, the Derby Gibb River Road, was never captured by the Gooble Maps mobile image camera. I am current at marker "B".

My blood sugar count this morning was at 95.  Last night's menu - Grilled Bratwurst and Onions, Black Beans and White Rice, Northern Bean and Mushroom Salad...

And of course I had to have my Ben and Jerry's ice cream. I tried to make sure that I had all of the tastes in my supper; sweetness, sourness, saltiness, bitterness, and unami.  I also included a bit of pungency.  This way I may have been able to reduce my later evening craving for any particular snack food.  It seemed to have worked.

Today I will begin my continued and renewed search of my maternal family line, Robertson. I am going to focus on a surname reach project centered in the area of East Lothian in Scotland. I have been able trace my Robertson connections to my 6-times great-grandfather John Robertson and I think it is time to see what more I can find. Follow my progress at A Genealogy Hunt.

Day 226 – (AD 656) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.8 Miles – Crossed Over the Adcock River on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This afternoon I cycled 21.8 miles on my Schwinn 170. I have now completed 54.15% of my overall and targeted goal. And I tell you these percentage points sure go by much slower than I thought they would. This is Day number 656.

And I am still on the Derby Gibb River Road in Western Australia. I just crossed over the Adcock River in the King Leopold Ranges. I did pass by some offshoot dirt paths this morning but from the satellite image I cannot see any evidence of any type of building. Today I made I am, on the virtual part of my journey, located at the “B” marker.

I now have 782 more miles to go to get to my next destination and goal point. I will probably take about 36 days, give or take to reach that point on my virtual Trek.

And my blood sugar dropped 12 points this morning to 92. Supper last night included fried pickles, fish and chips and a chocolate brownie sundae…but nothing more, nada, to snack on later on. I’m not getting into a discussion about the pros and cons of fried foods. Hell I’m not a dietitian, nutritionist, medical doctor, or self-proclaimed fitness guru, but I think I can say that by not over-eating and staying away from the snacks does show me the immediate impact.

I did find something that sort of satisfies my occasional hankering for sweet, sugar, salt, nuts, and dark chocolate…

KIND Nuts & Spices bars. Especially the Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt.

The top to our new monster king size quilt, NT Celebration is complete.

Day 225 – (AD 655) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.0 Miles – Pedaling With Blinders on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled 22.0 miles on my Schwinn 170. My total as of now – 13,462.8 miles; 21,666.3 kilometers.

Yes, still no little drag-on-man to check out a closer image of my location.  I am currently at the marker “B” on the Derby Gibb River Road. The closest satellite vantage view is from 100 feet up. And I am going to be cycling blind for some time now and to come.

Recently I was asked whether or not I could “be faking” my cycling on my Schwinn 170. My immediate response, “Yes, I could.” But all-in-all, my follow up retort was “Why bother?

I began my journey and Trek 688 days ago on December 2, 2012. I have cycled, the physical part, for 655 days…and I have written about my successes and my virtual journey for 688 days.

If I am bee-essing who am I hurting? Nobody. I know that I have lost the 12” on my waist. I know, and my doctors know, that I am no longer showing signs of being diabetic. I have been able to reduce the amount of medications prescribed. And I am enjoying myself. Yes, I could be faking.

And this morning my blood sugar was up 9 points. I know it was because I had a salt craving last night and I ate half a bag of corn tortilla chips and a bag of Goldfish.

As I have explained that for me something that helps with my concentration, or lack thereof, while I’m pedaling is to have something to watch rather than read. And I have found that I am much more entrenched in the story if there are no commercials.

Currently I am watching the Spanish series, Gran Hotel. Yes Spanish is one of the languages that I speak and understand but I am certainly glad that there are English subtitles. Gran Hotel is a whodunit drama that involves the murder(s) and escapades of the owners, the guests, and the servants. I still haven’t figured out who the original murderer is but it is a show in which there are a great number of bitchy characters.

I am well into the 2nd season and who should be introduced on the anniversary of the death of Don Carlos but another new and young female character from England, Lady Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller. Yup, that’s her. And I wonder how many more twists and turns the writers of Gran Hotel are going to invent and throw in.

The top of our new NT Celebration has been completed.  It now measures 101" by 113".

A change in design has begun to our Afghan #7.

Jim’s Trek counted 52,903 Pageviews. Funny how by alternating months there are peaks and valleys in the number of Pageviews. October must have been a boring month.  I guess I haven't included any political ads in my journal

Day 224 – (AD 654) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.1 Miles – Yes I am Still on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled 22.1 miles on my Schwinn 170 and I completed 200 sit-ups. Grand total miles on my 654th day of pedaling – 13,440.8; 21,630.9 kilometers. I am not going to let my biorhythm control my expectations of myself. Only 46.02% to go…and then come up with another new goal.

The little drag-on man is not working on this part of my journey in Western Australia. I made it to marker “B” on the Derby Gibb River Road. No immediate image but I was able to get a Goggle Maps satellite picture from 100 feet up.

All generations can learn from each other. There are no restricted guidelines that have to be followed. From Elite Daily – The Voice of Generation-Y Chris Riotta’s article seems to provide a fairly good summary – “7 Things You Do Every Day That Are Destroying Your Life’s Potential”.

As of October 17 former Governor and lost VP candidate, and would-be reality show pseudo-celebrity can now see more than one rainbow from her front porch. Yeah Vladimir Putin!!!

Three projects currently in progress – NT Celebration, Afghan #5, and Afghan #6.

Day 223 – (AD 653) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.6 Miles – Definitely in No-Man’s Land on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning, before our spring cleaning, (a wee bit late), I cycled 21.6 miles on my Schwinn 170. I have now topped 13,418.7 miles; 21,595.4 kilometers.

But today I am definitely in no-man’s land in Western Australia. I’m still on Derby Gibb Road, a "B", and I am east of Mac Creek.

The marker “A” is the point where the Google drag-on-man stops all close up imaging for some time, I think. It looks like that he (they, the Google Maps’ imaging team) may have lost some almost 120, give or take, miles. And I figure that it be about 150 miles to the Western Australia state line.

Well here’s some news from theguardian|The Observer that is NOT in the least bit surprising, “Big increase in surgery to mend ‘flesh tunnel’ earlobes” – (Nicole Mowbray, 18 October 2014). Just think £1,800 or about $2,900 US. I would think about the ear jewelry enhancement very carefully.

Spring fall cleaning completed we decided to have a late lunch at PAO Café on North Florida Avenue. I had Filipino Nachos, Turkey Lumpia, Chicky Boom, and Banana Turon. Oh yeah, my blood sugar count this morning was 95.

All strips for our new NT Celebration quilt have been completed; 25 4" and equivalent squares sewn across and 28 down.

Day 222 – (AD 652) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.2 Miles – Definitely Off The Main Road on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled 22.3 miles on my Schwinn 170. And I completed 200 sit-ups.

Total mileage to date – 13,397.1; kilometers – 21,560.1. My BMI is 22.9 and percentage fat at 18.9%. I still headed in the right direction.

I did say I wanted to get off the main road, and boy did I find this one. I am located on the Derby River Road in the King Leopold Ranges in Western Australia. I could not ask for a rustier looking bike path…and it certainly doesn't look too, too paved. I now have 870 miles to cycle to my next destination and goal point.

And my mind is blank today, and if I did know the reason why…it would be nice. Check my biorhythms for today and guess what? Just take a gander at the locations of my cycle charts. On a positive note, hell I’ve got to look for the positive, I completed my cycling on my Schwinn 170.

Enough said for today.
