Days 402 – (AD 1,564) – 23.5 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled my Schwinn 170 23.5 miles. My totals are now 33,517.6 miles; 53,941.5 kilometers.

I reached my destination at Aeolis Serpens and continued. My new destination is to the northeast, I think, at Cerebus Tholi. According to Wolfram Alpha the distance between these 2 points is approximately 590 miles.


I continued and pedaled 21.43% or about 3.63% to my new destination and goal point.

I’m sort of a novice to this issue, but if Sweden incinerates 49.5% of its municipal waste in 2014-15, would it not be a be a feasible possibility if the trash, like the flotsam and jetsam floating in the Pacific Ocean somehow be used up as recyclable energy?

Today I pedaled my Schwinn 170 23.9 miles. My totals are now 33,494.1 miles; 53,903.6 kilometers.

I am now located at 99.54% of the distance to my next destination point.



Looks like I must determine my next goal point and destination leg on this Red Planet.

Something new and different –


Strange thing happened to my PC this morning, specifically to my Google Calendar program. When I opened the Calendar program all details regarding the program, except for my daily inputs which were in English, was in Lithuanian.

Why? The hell that I know.


I had to go to Google Help Calendar to find out how to change back to my native tongue. I tried to follow the instructions to the “t”. The only problem was that the instructions were in Lithuanian. Had to use my Notebook to shadow the steps.

Fixed. I am back to English now.

Strange that it was only my Google Calendar program that was affected. I also ran Norton and McAfee to check to see if there had been an intruder or a virus. The results were clean.

Does not make sense.

Something coincidental was that this morning I was trying to figure the Thai equivalent of the word "turkey". No connections, and different part of the world.

This is something I have been saying for the last number of decades, “Why do Vegan or Vegetarian food always have to associated with an animal protein when they are listed on menus?” And finally, not that I believe it was necessary to have it legislated by government, one country, France is listening to my outbursts.

I need to vent -

I hate warehousing and paying bills. It is a fact of life!

The almighty electric company is a self-appointed godhead in this and most areas.

I always pay my bills on time.

I use the electric power to keep my house going, to do my cooking, to propel the engines on every quilting and sewing accessory, to power up my electronic piano, to keep the state of the art video equipment working to watch movies and continue my binging. It runs the mo-tors and lights and pumps on our pool.

I always insure that my payments are received well in advance.

This afternoon I received my monthly bill via the USPS.

The TECO, Tampa Electric Company bill, the company which I have been using for the past 34 years, and of which I have always paid on time, included, printed in RED on the enclosed bill, a PAST DUE - PAY IMMEDIATELY note in the tremendous amount of $0.70.

That's right, 7 dimes.

I obviously had entered an incorrect amount in my last month's payment. I inadvertently keyed in a "0" instead of a "7" after the decimal point when I electronically entered my pay-ment.

70 bloody cents!

Stop the turbines. Cut off the juice. No more power for Smith's house.

A bloody 70 cents.

And what did I do?

I did not add the 70 cents to my forthcoming payment. I simply and deliberately sent an electronic cheque in the amount of $1.70 to TECO dated for tomorrow.

Let their accounting and billing department try and balance their bloody 70 cents.

And I then warehoused my next payment electronically at my bank account for $1.00 less.

Bloody hell!

Read this article. Not sure about the izine. The article is from Spiritual Wisdome by Mystic Reader, dated April 16, 2018 “Two Scientists Have Shown That The Soul Exists And It Never Dies But Returns To The Universe”

Regarding my Google account issue, and the process of wading through pages, of "How tos", I did repeat my issue and problem to a Google Group Forum.

I have now received 2 responses from 2 members of Google Products. The first was a reiteration of the "How Tos". The second was asking for some specific information.

In the meantime, I have been able to find a couple of "workarounds" that I have been using, including the generation of a new gmail account, with the proverbial Latin "a", versus the north-of-the-border "Eh?"

Something new and different –

I was running low on deodorant, and as per the norm, I stopped by the local Target to stock up. Hell, there are now so many choices of brands, varieties, and essences that I just wanted to get it done and get out of the store.

There was a special, 2-for-1. I dropped them into my cart. Finished my shopping and went home.

It wasn’t until that I grabbed the needed new deodorant, Old Spice, that I realized that there is something amiss regarding the labeling of a just plain old deodorant stick. And I truly wonder about the P&G marketing and product sales department.

I am missing something. When did it become a marketing ploy that werewolves and vampires, and probably zombies, ever have the need for underarm deodorant?

And do beauty salons and dentists now open in the wee hours after midnight, during a full moon, to cater for their night clientele?

I just must ask.

Not sure what happened, but for all intents I cannot change the password on my main account. I have been able to work around the situation and by creating a new account I have figured out how to get in through alternate doorways.

Believe it or not, the work-around includes my desktop, my iPhone, my iPad, and Andy's account.

Day 393 – (AD 1,555) – 23.7 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled my Schwinn 170 23.7 miles. My totals are 33,301.4 miles; 53,593.5 kilometers.


I am now located at 56.71% of the distance to my next destination point.

Something different –

Well according to my Biorhythms my Physical Cycle is at the intersection of 0% in an upward swing. Good chances for next 2 weeks.


Looks I’m going to have to wait a couple of days for my Emotional and Intellectual Cycles to move into the upward direction. So do not ask me any tricky questions for at least 5 days or I may just close all the doors and windows.

For lunch today, I had to try Icelandic Skyr (w/o the Skyr) Pancakes. Found a recipe online at Canadian Living. I substituted Plain Greek Yogurt for the Skyr.



And for supper I am going to try to make Indonesian Pork Bites with Fragrant Butter Rice and Spicy Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce.

Day 392 – (AD 1,554) – 24.5 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today the rainy season begins. Thunder and lightning.

Guess what? The Pack equals 4.


Here’s hoping the hurricanes miss us completely this year.

And this morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 24.5 miles. My totals are now 33.277.7 miles; 53.555.4 kilometers.


I am now located at 51.45% of the distance to my next destination point.

Something different –

Atlas Obscura’s article by Anika Burgee dated April 6, 2018 “Enchanting Illustrations Carved From Old Books” caught my eye.

I am enthralled by the work of illustrator Isobell Ouzamn.

 “My altered books happened accidentally,” Ouzman says, in an email interview. “I came across a cardboard box full of hardback novels one day, sat outside in the rain. As a lover of books, I brought them home to dry out, and repaired some of the bindings, determined to use them in some way.” Instead of reading them—she wasn’t a fan of the genre—she began to draw on the first page of one of them. “I don’t quite remember what brought me to start carving into the pages, but a few months later I had my first finished altered book. That was back in 2012. Ever since then I have been developing them into what they are now, trying to find the best way to build them.” 

 And I can see the progression of layers as they can apply to the quilt work that Andy and I attempt.

Our new Cranes Quilt Update - Quilting Stage 3 still underway. We like how this one is taking shape. Also, even with the same white background it is amazing how so very different this new one is from our other completed Cranes Quilts.

A key point, I believe, in the process of creating a quilt is the naming of the quilt. (Just my opinion.) We're working on that.

And for the next Cranes Quilt, we're examining fabric choices for the Cranes to highlight the design. Very interesting.
