Day 230 – (AD 1,392) – 20.8 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – Purpose On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yes, it is raining, maybe spitting, sort-of drizzling…but I am inside. For all the hype on the TV stations, there’s not any flooding in my street. And they just said that the tornado warning, which lasted all of 15 minutes, is expiring. Auntie Em! Auntie Em!

And this morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 20.8 miles and reached my next destination and goal point, Tisia Valles. That’s another 490 miles chalked up to my Jim’s Trek.

My next destination and goal point is 440 miles, almost to the Martian west, I think. The new location is Liris Valles.

My totals to date – for the whole of Jim’s Trek: 29,527.0 miles; 47,519.2 kilometers. For Part V, the Martian part: 4,625.4 miles; 7,443.0 kilometers. And if my calculations are correct I still have about 8,674.6 miles to go.

Our June 19th quilt is on its way to Patchwork Europe. As at 12:59 am this morning it had cleared customs in France.

And our latest quilt - MTBD - Quilt design has turned out better than we expected. The idea was to keep the chevrons as simple and as clean as possible.

And for those who asked, yes we are still working on WOW!.

Reading today – “

The New York Times, The Opinion Pages, Joseph P. Carter, July 31, 2017 – “The Universe Doesn’t Care About Your ‘Purpose’”.

“Purpose is about loss, or at least the circumvention of it. And there’s nothing wrong with that. We create purposes to establish happy endings in a universe where endings are simply that — endings."

Day 229 – (AD 1,391) – 20.5 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I struggled through my pedaling on my Schwinn 170. Even though I stuck to my 60-minute regime at 50 minutes I had to stop completely. Felt like my body had given up. After a wee bit of a pause, I continued to finish the hour and 20.5 miles. This is my 1,391st day of pedaling and the strangest physical experience yet.

Totals now stand at 29,506.2 miles; 47,485.7 kilometers. And I have completed 95.8% of the distance to my next destination and goal point. Looks like I’m going to have to start the search for the next location on this red planet.

That’s it from me today.

Day 228 – (AD 1,390) – 20.1 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 20.1 miles. Totals keep mounting – 29,485.7 miles; 47,452.7 kilometers.

I have now completed 91.6% of the 490 to my next destination and goal point.

And today is a gorgeous non-humid day in Tampa. It truly is a dog-life.

Decided to try a new no-knead bread recipe – Black Sesame. 1st proofing completed.

Read someplace the black sesames are good for eliminating gray hair. Who knows?

Our latest quilt in progress. Yes, you may have seen this pattern before. (I certainly have.) This is the top, almost completed. And yes, we do not fit in any one type of quilting niche. This one's Chevrons created/pieced with rectangular blocks cut with our AccuQuilt.

Day 227 – (AD 1,389) – 21.0 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This day may not be turning out alright. I think I may just withdraw myself into my self-imposed introversion. And then I check my biorhythms.

Yes, my Emotional and Physical cycles are just about as low as they can go. (No, I’m not breaking into a melody from Oklahoma.) With my Intellectual cycle in an upward swing, I should just keep my mouth shut and spend some time learning.

Yes, I did get on my Schwinn 170. I pedaled 21.0 miles. My totals are now 29,465.6 miles; 47,220.4 kilometers. And I have completed 87.5% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

My accompanying visual on my daily Trek is the new Netflix show Ozark. Not bad show produced and directed and starring by Justin Bateman. It does have overtones of Breaking Bad.

Pieces to our new WOW! quilt are all in progress. And we’ve taken a  quick side trip to create another very new quilt, a new one to us.  Here's a sampling.

TBD - JS AB - 2017
And our June 19th has been boxed, packed and is on its way to France. As of 10:11 pm last night it “Departed the USPS regional Facility”.

Met with my new diabetes physician yesterday. As I thought there has been something “off” with the type of glucose meter I have been using. I’m going to switch to a new one which should present a much better scatter of the errors of the results.

Day 226 – (AD 1,388) – 20.2 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This pedaling thing after 1,387 days of pedaling is getting boring. Boring. But I still pedaled another day this morning for the 1,388th time since Dec 2, 2012. I pedaled 20.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals now stand at 29,444.6 miles; 47,386.6 kilometers.

And I have now completed 83.2% of the distance to my next destination and goal point on this planet Mars. (Of course, that part is in the far recesses of my mind and Jim’s Trek.)

Question – Has anyone seen or heard of colored batting for quilts?

Last night’s supper was an experiment – Chermoula Fish Tagine. I used Swai. I stopped using or eating Tilapia some time ago after I read how Tilapia is farmed.

But it looks like Swai and Basa are also to be placed on the “no-eat” list. Check out the March 15th article at Global Seafoods North America Made in China: Why You Shouldn’t Eat Tilapia.

Soapbox –

I finished watched all 5 seasons of House of Cards. I sort of liked the way the 5th season ended, and certainly hoped that the current season of #45 would follow suit.

Day 225 – (AD 1,387) – 21.5 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I still got up and I still fed the dogs and I still pedaled my Schwinn 170 for 1 hour. Today I cycled 21.5 miles. Total now stand at 29,424.4 miles; 47,354.1 kilometers.

I forgot to post on the 22nd. On that day, I pedaled 20.3 miles.

And I have completed 79.1% or 387.6 miles to my next goal and destination point.

My early morning fasting blood sugar count seems to be dropping. This morning I registered 123 mg/dL, down 8 points from the day before. I’m still working at it.

Supper, supper attempt – Chicken Vesuvio.

This one is a repeatable one.

WOW! Update – All 60 5” Crane blocks have been pieced and completed. 36 have been sewn together to create the center of our new design. All the remaining pieces for the 64 6” blocks have been cut. Our AccuQuilt die design certainly has been worth the creation.

Soapbox –

I am getting thoroughly bored with the misgivings and antics of the current Administration and the seated Houses of Congress.

HuffPost posted yesterday that “Donald Trump Is Super Sad That Republicans Won’t Protect Their President”, Ed Mazza, Jul. 23, 21017.

#45 expounded on Twitter that

“It’s very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President.”

Do we seriously have 3 ½ more years of the inane and absurd comments by this man?

Ever since Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Baily retired the gray pachyderms one can say that a downhill rolling stone gathers no moss.

Still struggling with my early morning blood sugar counts. IT did drop 13 points today…but I got a long way to go.

Supper last night was a Deconstructed Pork Egg-roll. I used Red Cabbage and Grated Carrots, Red Onion, Cilantro, Garlic, Salt, and Pepper. I topped the dish with some Wonton Strips. (I got mine via Amazon.)

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 20.0 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals: 29,342.1 miles; 47,221.6 kilometers.

And I so, so want to stop…excepting for the fact that I am so, so close to reaching the 30,000-mile mark. Guess I will keep pedaling while I get older.

Today I have completed 62.3 % of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

Day 219 – (AD 1,381) – 22.0 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – No Skittles On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 another 22.0 miles. Totals now: 29,300.1 miles; 47,154.0 kilometers.

And I have now completed 53.7%, 263.1 miles, of the distance to my next destination and goal point. Overall, I have now completed 33.1% of my total expected distance on Mars.

Yes, my weakness is Skittles. I can go months, years without having Skittles, without any craving. But put a bag of Skittles, an opened bag of Skittles in front of me, there is no will-power that will allow me to only eat 1 Skittle. And I bought a bag of Red, White, and Blue Skittles. I was being patriotic for the 4th of July. And yes, I kept shoving them down my throat. I could not help myself.

And yes, my early morning blood sugar count jumped 59 mg/dL to 179 on the first day after I had chomped down on some Skittles. Two days later I repeated the Skittles’ thing. My early morning blood sugar jumped up, this morning, to 171, up 17 points from the day before. So much for the Red, White, and Blue.

My suppers the last two evenings have been somewhat decent. Yes, the Tomatoes and the Cucumbers were from my Garden Tower.

Day 218 – (AD 1,380) – 20.2 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 20.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals are now at 29,278.1 miles; 47,118.6 kilometers.

And I have completed 49.2% of the distance to Tisia Valles.

I have now been pedaling my Schwinn Fitness cycle now for 1,380 days. I began this crazy journey on December 2, 2012. Is it possible that I have begun to get bored?

Checked my biorhythms at Façade.com - http://www.facade.com/biorhythm/.

My Intellectual cycle is almost at minus 100%. This could explain my boredom.
