Day 126 – (AD 556) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.0 Miles – My 5th Destination Goal Reached in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled 22.0 miles on my Schwinn 170. And the real part of my Trek in 556 days now totals 11,312.8 miles or 18,205.7 kilometers.

And on the virtual part of Jim’s Trek III I have now hit 5 of my 16 goals and destination points. Total Trek III mileage pedaled 2,695.4; 4,337.8 kilometers.

I reached my 5th destination and goal in Western Australia at the port city of Albany, population about 33,600. I started Jim’s Trek III at my first destination Sydney. That is my 1st goal and 0.0 mile. I then proceeded on to Canberra, (#2), pedaling on my Schwinn 170 for 235.3 miles. Next #3 Melbourne; #4 Adelaide; and now Albany #5.

I am now setting my sights on my 6th destination and goal point. And at that point I should have pedaled at least 11,500 miles. Methinks that I will be able to do that in about 10 days.

There seems to be concern about the amount of money Hillary Clinton, former First Lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State, received for talking. Well if Donald Trump can “rent himself out for private parties for $300,000 a $%#@ing hour” what is the issue? If there are those who are willing to pay the fee and the associated ticket prices, why not? Something to think about is that if a speaker/celebrity may have been paid $5,000 in 1900 the approximate equivalent, in 2013, is in the ballpark of $140,000. And in 2009 Glenn Beck earned $3 million in speaking fees. I am not proselytizing anything or promulgating either side of the aisle. I am just considering stones and glass houses and John 8:7.

Last night supper resulted in a 5-point reduction in my blood sugar. I clocked 90 mg/dL. Supper was a strange twist on I’ve got to have nachos. Corn chips, Cuban pulled pork, onion, Greek eggplant bruschetta, pickled carrots and jalapeƱos, and Mexican-blend cheese. Different combination… International nachos? Would I try it again? Only if I was wanting, and needing to clear out some things in the kitchen and from the refrigerator.

I have reached the final chapter of Julia Cameron’s third book, Finding Water of her The Artist’s Way series. This is a journey of realizing one’s inner and creative spirit and artist. Thank you Julia Cameron for teaching and sharing with me. Thank you for imparting your journey.

And if you have a mere $350,000 burning a hole in your pocket or safe you could always turn to the Japanese firm of Skakibara-Kikai. I wonder if this commercial battle-mech, called Land Walker would certainly confirm with the new Georgia Safe Carry Protections Act. My issues are that this 10-foot Land Walker only moves at about one mile an hour and its guns only shoot squishy pink balls. Watch out Teletubbies, you’ve got a Georgian friend.

Day 125 – (AD 555) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.0 Miles – 4th of July in Tampa and Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Happy 4th of July. I have my own explosion of fireworks here on the pool deck in Tampa. Natural pyrotechnics.

And The Pack certainly appreciates the lack of sizzle, boom, and ba-dang…

Yes this morning I cycled 22.0 miles on my Schwinn 170. The total of my physical Trek now equals 11,290.8 miles; 18,170.8 kilometers.

And on the mental and virtual part I am now located so much closer to my 5th destination and goal point in Western Australia. I am located on South Coast Highway and I am about 4-plus miles north of the Great Australian Bight. I have just 21.7 miles to pedal to reach my 5th destination.

Grandpa spent yesterday afternoon at Busch Gardens. Yes it was hot. And supper at Hank’s Catfish & BBQ jumped my blood sugar up 8 points to 95. Guess all-you-can-eat fried shrimp and pickles can easily taste so, so good.

Day 124 – (AD 554) – Jim's Trek Part III – 22.2 Miles – Headed South in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I started off thinking that I should take the day off of riding my Schwinn 170. But I didn’t. I got on my fitness cycle and I pedaled 22.2 miles. I am now only two days out of reaching my 5th goal on this third part of my exercise journey.

I am still located on National Route 1 in Western Australia in the virtual part of my Trek. I am headed in a southerly direction and will continue until I reach my 5th goal and destination point.

I have now cycled a total of 11,268.8 miles, 18,135.4 kilometers. And I think I now need some new belts to hold up my pants.

The inner top of our new Le Ruban quilt has been completed. We are now adding the borders and working out the quilting as well as some applique.

Our newly completed quilt Tampa Kaleidoscope will be on display at Keep Me In Stitches on Kennedy Blvd in Tampa. Check out details at Quilts SB.

Our Blumish Two has arrived in Golden Colorado. It is has been chosen as a Finalist in the Evolutions Juried Quilt Challenge and will be on display at The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum July 31 through October 28.

Day 123 – (AD 553) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.3 Miles – I’m Gonna Be Some More Time in Western Australia on my Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Another 21.3 miles completed on my Schwinn 170. This morning I upped the resistance to 15 out of 25. Yup I am still cycling and then I attempted 180 sit-ups. Blood pressure immediately after routine ranked in at 125/79. And it appears that I am keeping up a good normal rate for one in my age bracket.  (Notice SG that I did not use the word "old".)

I am now about 66 miles from my 5th destination and goal point of my Jim’ Trek III. On the virtual mapping of my Trek I have pedaled 2,629.5 miles; 4,231.8 kilometers in Australia. Overall on this 553rd day I have cycled 11,246.7 miles, 18,099.7 kilometers on my Schwinn fitness cycles.

And Arthur is a happy drunk on the 4th of July. Batten down for the season’s first.

Facebook does it again. But Facebook can do anything it wants as long as its advertisers pay and fund their expenses and bills. Would I pay for a subscription to Facebook? Hell, no.  I have no say in what Facebook does.  I do not own any FB stock.  I can participate and use their services. I do not pay. I therefore can either turn it on or turn it off. My choice, period.

And the question I have – Would I have as many long-hand pen-pals and “acquaintances” without social media. Of course not. Methinks the future will introduce SMA groupings and meetings, if not already done so.

Our new Le Ruban is at the stage where all 32 strips are being pieced together.

My Schwinn 170 viewing companion is now the first episode of the 4th season of White Collar.

I definitely welcome any comments or thoughts or ideas. Please feel free to contact me at Jim’s Trek.

Be healthy and enjoy.

Day 122 – (AD 552) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.9 Miles – Just Thinking On My Schwinn 170 in Western Australia

Good Day,

A dew boat caught my eye while I was walking The Pack. I captured an image with my iPhone. A discarded bamboo leaf from the clump of Black Bamboo on the front lawn, setting out with its passengers of crystal dew drop pearls.

And this morning, before my appointment and errands I cycled 21.9 miles on my Schwinn 170. I have now pedaled a total of 11,225.3 miles; 18,065.4 kilometers. My weight is holding at 163 lbs. and my waist still measures a good 32 inches.

I am currently located on the South Coast highway in Western Australia on my virtual Trek. I veered to the west and it looks like I will soon turn again due south. I am now 87.3 miles from my next destination and goal, 5th on my list of points of my Jim’s Trek III.

Max is coping with the summer Florida heat.

And there are 43,080 pageviews now recorded for Jim’s Trek.

Supper last night reduced my blood sugar count to 81 this morning.

I attempted a recipe and created dish of Shrimp and Avocado on Sushi Rice with Wasabi Lime dressing. Was this a real sushi rice, don’t know but it included sweet rice, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, carrots, daikon, and scallions. Not bad, but preparation was much longer than
I expected.

Always wondered about tilapia… you know the white fish that has no taste, has no smell, and is sort of a non-descript type of seafood. From an article from the NY Times, Another Side of Tilapia, the Perfect Factory Fish, “For doctors, the debate has centered more on tilapia’s nutritional benefits, or lack thereof. Like all fish, tilapia is a good source of protein, with few of the unhealthy saturated fats in red meats. But unlike most other fish, tilapia contains relatively little of the fish oils that medical research has shown assist brain development and protect against heart disease, stroke and abnormal heart rhythms: a pair of omega-3 fatty acids.”

My fat percentage continues to follow a positive downward trend.
