Day 71 – (AD 501) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.7 Miles – 1,500 Miles in Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled another 21.7 miles on my Schwinn 170. To date, in Jim’s Trek III, I have pedaled 1,511.7 miles; 2,432.8 kilometers. This is the Australian part of the Trek.

The marker at A is where I am currently located in South Australia. The blue route is a recap of my route back to my starting point in Sydney.

Okay, I wonder if there is something in the water in Houston. According to Derrel Sims of the TV series Uncovering Aliens “1 in 4 people have been abducted by hostile aliens.” (Houston Chronicle, May 10, 2014) So if you are sitting at the supper table with your spouse and 2.5 children you can be assured the by Sims’ odds and calculations at least one of you has spent some time in a spaceship. My question – Why are the aliens considered “hostile”?

After living in Tampa for over 30 years, it seems to me that there has never been a viable resolution to the transportation issue… And each generation of leaders just keeps talking and pontificating about it. “Leaders of Tampa Bay’s biggest public companies cite mass transit as priority.” (Jeff Harrington, Tampa Bay Times, May 10, 2014.)   "Congestion Study: Tampa Has 5th-Worst Traffic in North America" (Dalia Colón, WUSF News, July 19, 2012)

I need to check my To-do list and get some things done today.

Day 70 – (AD 500) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.0 Miles – Yantanabie, South Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today is now the 500th day that I have been riding and pedaling a Schwinn Fitness cycle; first the 150 and now the 170. And this morning I cycled 21.0 more miles on my Schwinn 170. I now have pedaled 10,107.1 miles. Today is also my 70th day of Jim’s Trek III.

I am now drinking my smoothie of bananas, blueberries, and cantaloupe yogurt.

This morning I am still located on the Eyre Highway. I am northwest of a small location on the map in South Australia called Yantanabie. Accordingly from what I’ve read Yantanabie is one of the westernmost localities in South Australia. I’m not sure of what that means because when I scan the Google Maps satellite images of South Australia it would appear that I still have some ways to go before I will arrive at the States' border of South and West Australia.

Yes the road still looks like a road. The dry plains still look dry, and the scrub growth is still sparse. But the sky is clear and blue.

And I am maintaining at present.

Just wondering if the current paranoia about hackers and viruses is as defined “a suspicion and mistrust of people or their actions without evidence or justification”? Is it something akin to what could be described as a reverse thought process of McCarthyism or is it just that some persons fear their own shadows? Was I as concerned about hackers and viruses, before computers, when the preferred delivery method was via the Post Office?

I think I just want to live and create without the clandestine image of an ominous figure in a trench coat waiting in the fog by a solitary lamppost at 2:36 in the early morning.

The junk mail still goes from the mail box into the recycle bin.  And Norton and Malwarebyte run scans every day.

Question – How many quilters were doodlers when sitting, possibility bored, in a classroom?

Quilting continues on our latest project H-3. This is the third quilt and wall hanging in our H Series.

Day 69 – (AD 499) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.3 Miles – Poochera, South Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

And there are inspectors and critics…But of course little Bella is always pleased.

This morning’s exercise included 21.3 miles on my Schwinn 170 and 125 sit-ups. Total miles to date 10,086.1.

And I just crossed through the small grain belt town of Poochera, in South Australia. The population is recorded at just about 190. This is small.

I am headed in a northwesterly direction. I should reach my next destination and goal point on my virtual Trek on about July 9.

New book on the table right now, Anne-Marie O'Connor's The Lady In Gold, 2012.  Part of my research into the work of Gustav Klimt.  I have had an idea for a new quilt and wall hanging.  I have been working on this design for a couple of years now.

There must be some definite correlation between the survey results and the possible understanding that we are represented by so many politicians who are just out and out dullards. From MailOnline - "'We're not ready to meet aliens': Humans are too stupid and religious to cope with extra-terrestrial life, claims expert." (Jonathan O'Callaghan, 7 May 2014)

Day 68 – (AD 498) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.2 Miles – Just Minnipa, South Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled 21.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. I now have about 1,254 more miles to reach my next physical goal and destination.

On the road, on my virtual Trek that is, I passed through another small town, Minnipa, in South Australia. Population just over 250. I am still located on the Eyre/National Highway. Landscape is the same. The sameness definitely provides a shade of continuity and familiarity.

I do not like commercial and or government endeavors dictating the way or the scale of the way I should feel or how I should be expected to act. And I am bloody glad that I do not live in Russia. As Vikto V. Yerofeyev, a popular writer writes “On the one hand, the Russian government says the Russian people are the best. On the other hand, it doesn’t trust the people.” (The New York Times, Russia Quietly Tightens Reins on Web With ‘Bloggers Law’, Neil MacFarquhar)

Clean house in 10 years, and only 848 dust bunnies found? "He told the panel that in addition to 848 priests dismissed between 2004 and 2013, 2,572 members of the clergy had been disciplined for sexual abuse, putting children beyond their reach."

Thank you for the comments and the notes that I have received regarding my Trek. My Trek was developed and conceived to benefit my bulk and form. Jim’s Trek is my journal that I put out in Internetland because it is an easier place for me to record my scribbling and pedaling thoughts. I do not have to worry about the stacks of loose notebooks or diaries hiding and gathering dust in a house that is already beginning to look like a fabric sweat shop. I am not writing this blog for anyone else. If it has become any sort of inspiration to you, I am certainly glad…but please realize that I am not preaching. I am not proselytizing about exercise or health. This is just about me, for me. And I can only realize that I have lost 12-inches around my waist and I am no longer taking any diabetic medication. Period.

I am certainly not bored while I Trek and pedal and watch my viewing companion the series Fringe. Fringe keeps my mind thinking as there are a number of story lines continuing throughout and woven in the main theme. It most assuredly keeps my interest.

And I think I am having issues with the fact that I am using a pressure washer to clean my pool deck, the cage, the boardwalk, the driveway, and the sidewalk. Already I have taken the brand new machine in for a repair… And today I broke the pressure hose. Oh yes, the thing-a-ma-jig handle that one pulls to start the engine slipped out of my hand, got caught, released, and smacked me across my chest. Two nice red welts. And I now have to replace the high pressure hose. But the deck and the cage looks fantastic.
