Day 167 – (AD 1,329) – 20.7 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yes, today I think I was spinning somewhat stronger on the pedals of my Schwinn 170. I cycled 20.7 miles. Totals: 28,251.0 miles; 45,465.7 kilometers.

I have now completed 67.1% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

The New York Times  “New York Today: Passover, and Our Everyday Plaques”. Alexandra S. Levine and Jonathan Wolfe, April 10, 2017.

“It’s Passover… A key component of the meal (Seder) is reciting the 10 plaques…and tell us what modern evils are relevant to their lives in 2017… ‘The Kardashians’ – Allison Costine, Brooklyn…”

Best answer ever. Period.

In preparations for the next elections, I wonder if the voting electorate, or lack thereof, will be more cognizant to the majority of idiots who are currently selling them down the river? Whether The Daily Banter is a bonafide social media enterprise Justin Rosario on April 6, 2017, sums it up completely, “It’s Hard Not To Hate Mitch McConnell”.

“There's Main Street hypocrisy, there's Washington D.C. hypocrisy, and then there's Mitch McConnell in a category all of his own.
For an elected official to have such disregard for the institutions he serves is infuriating but not unexpected from the anti-government Republicans; it's another thing entirely for McConnell to so shamelessly attack others for resisting his reckless assault on the underpinnings of our democracy. It's a sick mockery of what the Founders intended and he couldn't care less.”

“Mitch McConnell has a 19% approval rating, with 54% of voters disapproving of him but for the first time ever that at least gives him a better net approval rating than Ryan has.” from Public Policy Polling, March 30, 2017.

Supper last night was à la Korean, sort-of – Pan-Fried Pork Belly; Musaengchae (Spicy Daikon Salad); Kongjaban (Sweet Black Beans); Bok Choy Namul; Kimchee; and A mixture of Sweet and Long-Grain Rice. Excellent stuff. A lot of pans.

FBS dropped 16 mg/dL, but still in the realm of too high. And the new glucose/blood reader is not, I think recording correctly.

And if you haven’t figured it out by now, I like to eat and to cook all types of foods. Period.

Day 166– (AD 1,328) – 20.1 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This early morning, I pedaled another 20.1 miles on my Schwinn 170. This is my 1,328th day pedaling on my Schwinn Fitness cycles since I began on December 2, 2012. I have now cycled a grand total of 28,230.3 miles; 45,432.4 kilometers. I have 9,971.3 more miles remaining to go. At my current rate of 5-times a week I should be completed in about 499 more days. If my calculations are correct I should have already reached my 67th when I get to my finish line.

On Mars, the virtual part of my Trek and the 5th Part of Jim’s Trek I have completed 3,328.7 miles. As I am working this part of my Trek completely on the red planet, with unknown destination points, I have completed 58.1% of the distance to my next goal point.

Last night’s supper was Gnocchi Poutine. – Potato Gnocchi, White Cheddar Cheese Curds, and Turkey Gravy. I also added Mushrooms, Green Onions, and Jalapeño Peppers.

This was a winner. Only thing I would do next time, apart from making my own gnocchi would be to thicken the gravy.

And all this will prove very interesting for #45.

From NPR “8 Key Questions For Trump And The World After The Syria”, Domenico Montanaro, April 8, 2017.

“6. How does this change Trump's calculus going forward?
This is a key question because being interventionist runs counter to much of how Trump campaigned. Not only did he say in 2013 that Obama should not attack Syria, but he said of Hillary Clinton in a statement on his website during the 2016 campaign:
"We're spending $6 trillion dollars on wars in the Middle East, while our own country falls into total disrepair. Now Hillary wants to start a shooting war in Syria, in conflict with a nuclear-armed Russia, which could lead to World War 3. As her own team has said in WikiLeaks emails, she has 'terrible' instincts."””

Approval ratings – from FiveThirtyEight. Day 78.

Day 165 – (AD 1,327) – 20.1 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 20.1 miles. Totals now – 28,210.2 miles; 45,400.0 kilometers.

And I have now completed 3,308.6 on Part V of my Trek on Mars. I am 50.7% of the distance away from my next goal and destination point.

Music has always been something that I know that can always surpass. I just listened to Marcelito Pomoy sing both the tenor and soprano parts of The Prayer.

Amazing gift.

And straight out of the oven this morning Cranberry Bread –

Bob’s Red Mill Artisan Bread Flour, Sugar, Yeast, Salt, Water, and Craisins.

Tonight, for supper I’m going to try something completely off the wall – Gnocchi Poutine. – Potato Gnocchi, White Cheddar Cheese Curds, and Turkey Gravy. Check back to find out whether this one is a winner or a loser.

Good Day,

Today I cycled another 20.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals – 28,190.1 miles; 45,367.7 kilometers.

“What to Make of Bannon’s Exit From the NSC”, Rosie Gray, The Atlantic, April 5, 2017.

“President Trump took office with an unconventional pick as National Security Adviser, and an unusual structure for his National Security Council. Now, both are gone. White House chief strategist Steve Bannon’s removal from the principals’ committee of the National Security Council on Wednesday may signal a shift towards normalcy for the NSC, which spent much of the last few months mired in controversy.”
Question – With this administration and representative government, what is normalcy?

Day 163 – (AD 1,325) – 20.1 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I truly did not, once I was on my Schwinn 170 continuing pedaling. I truly thought I was getting old. But I did pedal another 20.1 miles in my allotted 1 hour time limit. My totals now are at 28,169.9 miles; 45,335.1 kilometers.

And I have thus far completed 3,268.3 miles of my Part V Trek, on Mars. I have pedaled 31.8 % of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

Yes, I know this is boring, just as my fingers.

Soapbox –

Beginning to become more and more boring as the days continue. Have we become a nation of anticipators as we wait for #45’s subsequent and dumbass moves?

The problem with this boredom is that this Executive Administration may to do something so dasdardly and disconcerting, that we as a people will be too devoid of anger and outrage.

This is a once in my lifetime gonna make recipe - Kartoffel-Bacon-Tarte im Knuspermantel. Translated Potato-Bacon Tart in Crispy Coat.

Ingredients seemed very simple – 24 oz. (2 -12oz packages) of Center Cut Bacon; 4 Yukon Gold Potatoes; 2 cups of shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese; and Salt and Pepper. 2 ½ hours at 380 ˚ F in the oven. And yes, I drained the rendered bacon fat.

And I do like the translated description provided by the chef at Lecker Schmecker– http://www.leckerschmecker.me/im-knuspermantel/

“The yawning emptiness in the middle of your belly has surely turned into the exact opposite after consuming this rich meal. It is quite possible that you are now in the fodder comedy and for a while are not able to stand up. After a long digestion there is then the next decent portion.”

It was rich and I really did like it. Positive point, my FBS dropped 3 points…but that still has some ways to go.

And dessert was a repurposing of the Gateau au Vin I made a couple of days ago, that seemed to dry out too quickly after the power went out while it was in the oven. I made a Gateau au Vin Chocolate Bread Pudding with Vanilla Icing.
