Day 44 – (AD 267) – Jim’s Trek Part II – The Sequel – 21.1 Miles - On My Schwinn Still in California

Good Day,

And today I continue with another 21.1 miles on my Schwinn 150. I have now, on my return trip from Seattle to Tampa cycled 923.2 miles. My complete trip has now reached a total of 5,180.3 miles.

I am located, virtually via Google Maps, headed east on West Walnut Grove Road toward Blossom Road. I am on the road between Walnut Grove, population about 1,550, and Thornton, population 1,130, in California. I am also between the two Counties of Sacramento and San Joaquin.

My fasting blood sugar dropped again to 110.  It still is a wee bit up and my goal is to get it to drop another 20 points.  Without any of my diabetes meds I am still working it to bring my average fasting count lower.

I wasn't looking for this but when I found it I am a bit flabbergasted. This advertisement on Storenvy.com is also a wee bit confusing. (Storenvy is an online marketplace and store of thousands of indie, aka independent, merchants.) And I am just lost…which of course isn't anything new. The ad mentions seven Religion Rangers but shows and describes five. Also it is not clear whether the cost is $55.00 each or for the five shown or for all seven. I am so confused.

For only $55.00 from Storenvy.com…

The religion Rangers at first is a group of seven colour-coded religious teenagers who assemble weekly to destroy anti-religious enemies deployed by their arch nemesis, Philistine Phil and his cohorts, heretic Herb and Blasphemy Barbera.

The Rangers are Employed by the floating head of Jesus, trapper in big painting, otherwise known as Jesus-face. Also his robot assistant, Halo-5, who is actually a dog wrapped in tinfoil.

Each ranger has a Religion weapon, a Religionzord and special superpower bestowed upon them by Jesus-face. The Religion Rangers group edition comes with their own Religion...

Atheist Religion Ranger - white
Islam Atheist Religion Ranger - blue
Jewish Atheist Religion Ranger - green
Satanist Atheist Religion Ranger - red
Hindu Atheist Religion Ranger - yellow

BEFORE ORDERING, PLEASE STATE WHAT RELIGION RANGER YOU WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE PLEASE !!!

Not much more that I can say about Religion Rangers...

And yes I have started a new blog site, Jim's Gotta Eat. This is a challenge and a dared request.

Be healthy and enjoy,

Jim

Day 43 – (Day 266) – Jim’s Trek Part II – The Sequel – 21.3 Miles – On My Schwinn 150, Hello Sacramento

Good Day,

This morning I am located on Jefferson Boulevard and I am headed in a southernly direction. I’m getting close to Pumphouse Road.

Today I cycled 21.3 miles on my Schwinn 150 through North Natomas and the three divisions of Sacramento: North, the City, and Southwestern.

Cowabunga and praise the Lord. Truthfully, who would actually buy this? I must be living in another plane and dimension when I found this on Amazon.com as offered by four merchants. You can have this for a mere $40.00 plus s&h. I think the sculptor got something mixed up with an interpretation of Mathew 14:25… All I can hear now are The Beach Boys and “Bom Bom Dit Di Dit Dip… We’re going surfin’.” And because the statue is wearing a crown of thrones… the artist’s understanding must be that a risen Jesus must have taken some time out to catch a wave. A mind is a terrible thing to waste…

Last night I tried something for the first time… Enchiladas. And no, I do not mean that it was the first time to eat enchiladas, but it was my first time to construct and cook them. For all time, I have sort of avoided cooking Mexican, (excepting microwave Nachos), and avoided Sushi recipes, just because. But this time I thought what the hell? What could I lose? And actually, of all the cooking experts out there right now Rick Bayless is sort of my culinary mentor.

Yesterday I had to make a quick stop at the grocery store. Well I started with a can of Old El Paso Medium Enchilada Sauce which I picked up at one of the local Publixes. There is a pretty easy recipe on the can, and I thought why not? Only thing was that there are only four ingredients listed, including the 6-inch flour tortillas.  I thought that this recipe sound pretty basic and boring. After I added a few things and followed my own drummer it turned out quite well and my blood sugar ranged in this morning at 111.

But guess what? I was asked to think about writing a cooking blog…and my response was well maybe. But there’s thousands, upon thousands of amateur cooks and wannabe chefs’ blogs and sites in InternetLand. But the right buttons were pushed. And then I thought, once again, why not? You’ll have to check out my new blog, Jim’s Gotta Eat. I have already begun the new construction and it will be up shortly.

My viewing pleasure on my Schwinn 150 was Mad Men… but last night while I was sewing in the ends of our Sea Foam Afghan I decided to watch a couple more of the following episodes. Everybody drinks, all the time in Mad Men. The story lines touch circumspectly on overindulgence and the alcohol issues. And just about everybody smokes. Lucky Strike is the firm’s biggest client.

Work continues on both our Blumish Two quilt and Sea Foam Afghan.

Be healthy and enjoy,

Jim

Day 42 – (Day 265) – Jim’s Trek Part II – The Sequel – 21.0 Miles – On My Schwinn Nearing Sacramento

Good Day,

Yes, another 21 miles on my Schwinn 150 this morning. I am headed east on County Road 22 towards County Road 124. Check out the elevated railroad. Tomorrow I will be cycling through Sacramento.

I am burning a daily average of 626.9 calories. Burned calories equals more to eat.

Jim’s Trek is now closing in on 20,000 pageviews… Not bad considering a real exercise and a virtual journey averaging just over 70 pageviews a day. I now am down to 280 more miles to reach to my next Interlake destination.

iGoogle is going away, it is being retired on November 1st. I have been re-teaching myself to use a new desktop layout. I am slowing weaning myself away from a format that I have been using for eight years. I am slowly deleting the gadgets that I have been using and have got myself so used to. I am now learning the intricacies of Google Chrome.

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. Well I’m not exactly sure what I should marvel at. From the Acorn Christian Enterprise co uk I am wondering if there is a match to Lois Lane or Lana Lang coupled to Mary Magdalene. And the copyright and trademark infringement? If the dude from Krypton does not have an issue, why do so many persons get so bent out shape trying to protect their small corner of the world?

Colored Windows II and Civil War Re-Enactment I are packed and shipped to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XX. Work continues on the quilting of Blumish Two. The inner top of our Sea Foam afghan is now complete. I am now back-threading in the loose ends.

Mad Men in the new season, number 4 are off and running with the story line of building the new business. Don and Betty are ironing out the boundaries of their newly divorced lives. Next?

Be healthy and enjoy,

Jim

Day 41 – (AD 264) – Jim’s Trek Part II – The Sequel – 21.6 Miles – The Odometer Turned 5,100 Miles

Good and Happy Labor Day,

Today I enjoyed this Labor Day with my grandson and family. And as I entered the room this miniature little person came walking up to his Grandpa. Good times.

And so I am writing my post to Jim’s Trek in the later part of this afternoon. This morning I did complete my cycling on my Schwinn 150. I cycled 21.6 miles. I am headed south on CA-113-3 toward Subacco Road. I am located about 35 miles north of Sacramento, California. Today my odometer turned to 5,115.3 miles.

In celebration of Piano and Chicken month I did sit and plunk out the theme of the TV show Green Acres. And barbequed chicken, roast corn, salad were the bill of fare. Thank you B&J. Happy birthday and cake for RH.

Well I can’t find my car keys. I can’t find my cell phone. I can’t find one of the dogs. Well fear not St. Anthony can help. He’s the patron saint for finding lost objects. Not being blasphemous but…but wait, just wait. For only $2.49 plus s&h I can get my own, my very own, Glow in the Dark St. Anthony Statue at TotallyCatholic.com. Just think after a few choice words yelled out in vain and a search of almost every nook and cranny in this hoarder’s house I can have my very own Glow in the Dark St. Anthony Statue. Turn off the lights and watch in awe and wonder as my very own Glow in the Dark St. Anthony Statue begins to radiate in a green ghostly shimmer and shine. Look what I have found. I track down my car keys. I have found my cell phone… But I can find one of the dogs. Guess I need a new $2.95 engraved pewter medal with a beautiful image of St. Francis…

My viewing choice on my Schwinn 150 this morning was Mad Men, Season 3 and Episode 13. Dissolution of business and marriage are forefront. On to Season 4.

Be healthy and enjoy,

Jim

Day 40 – (AD 263) – Jim’s Trek Part II – The Sequel – 21.6 Miles – Back on the Road Again, on My Schwinn 150

Good Day,

Back again in my saddle on my Schwinn 150. It was certainly strange yesterday that I did not cycle as I took my second self-imposed day of rest. I guess that my cycling has now become a habit… and as I am somewhat regimented about my stream of actions, it is sometimes difficult for me to break from something of which I have set it into regular motion.

And this morning, yup it still is morning; I cycled 21.6 miles on my Schwinn 150. In 263 days I have now completed 5,095.3 miles.

I left my stopping point just west of Richvale, California, headed east on Richvale Highway and turned south on the Golden State Highway. At Live Oak, CA-99, the road becomes Live Oak Boulevard. I am now located just a wee bit south of the intersection of Live Oak Blvd. and Morse Road. Tomorrow I will be cycling through Yuba City as I continue my Trek to my next Interlake destination, just another 323 miles further south.

The Vatican's chief astronomer, Gabriel Funes, recently announced that Catholics should actually welcome aliens as our extraterrestrial brothers, quoting Dante's Inferno as his mission statement: "Where we came forth, and once more saw the stars."

Okay, does this mean that Catholic Church is just trying to increase the sales of their plastic St. Christopher? Or are they attempting to increase the number of registered Catholics to their count benefits? (And yes, the plastic statuette is available for a mere $2.99 at TotallyCatholic.com). I am always amazed at the hutzpah of entrepreneurship of the temple sellers…

Last night’s supper was a definite treat. I goggled “Poor Man’s Paella” and I discovered many, many different options. Following the basic process of creating paella, this Smith  created one was something that I could not avoid having a second helpings. Shrimp, grouper, chorizo sausage, yellow bell pepper, tomato, onion, garlic, olives, rice, chicken broth, turmeric, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, and cilantro. And my blood sugar count this morning came in at a decent 108…and I am still not taking my diabetes medications.

Just read a reasonable article that the actual fruit versus a processed juice of the same fruit are where the benefits are to be had. The article from The Guardian, dated 29 August 2013 is titled Whole fruits protect against diabetes, but juice is risk factor, say researchers.

Today is the first day of September and it is both Piano and Chicken Month. And yes I have the music for Green Acres…It is the place to be. I go straight to my Yamaha.

Be healthy and enjoy,

Jim
