Day 66 ½ - (AD 496 ½) – Jim's Trek Part III – No Miles – Paused on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

I just decided, out of the blue, to take the day off from cycling on my Schwinn 170. To date I have cycled now 497 days and during that time frame I have taken off 23 days. I sort of figured out that I made up for the cycling by walking yesterday, after cycling, about two-plus hours at Busch Gardens with the family. I slept very well, thank you. And tomorrow I’ll get back on my Schwinn 170.

Today is a day of reflection, whatever that means. I wrote my morning pages and I am considering some new art.

Mother’s Day is just around the corner… and I am finding some unique gifts that I am sure some mothers may find ever so “I need to have”.

In celebration of the two-by-two celebration of sainthood, the first is Holy Water Cologne.

But you can opt for Angel Food Cologne, for the ever present memories of the glorious kitchen.

Then of course, should you decide on a practical Mother’s Day gift, why not Play-Doh Cologne?

And all Dementer Fragrances are on special for $19.19 with coupon.

Day 66 - (AD 496) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.2 Miles – Continuing on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I was of two minds, sort of like having two Little Mes perched on my shoulders. The Left Me whispered “Jimmy, You know you need to continue on your Schwinn 170 this morning.” The Right Me, in a low tone mumbled “JKLS, You've got to just keep going.” Well the Right Me won out. I cycled 21.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. To date I have now pedaled 10,022.2 miles, 16,129.2 kilometers.

I am still headed west on Eyre Highway this morning in South Australia. I am just east of Kyancutta. (I will probably cycle through it tomorrow.) At some point, from what I’ve read, Kyancutta was a busy town but it is now almost a ghost town. The population in 2006 was 245. Not sure how many ghosts.

And yes it does look like I am recycling the road images over and over again. But I can say that Google, (tongue in cheek), never lies. Yes, I am NOT recycling the images.

This morning I completed a 200-day streak writing my morning pages. Every morning before I get on Schwinn 170 I write at least 750 words. Sometimes what I write makes sense; sometimes it is just a brain dump. This morning I received a Streak Badge – The Pterodactyl. This is for 200 days in a row. My next goal is The Pegasus for 365 days in a row. I have now written 228,449 words and completed 299 days. Check out 750 Words.

Our H-2 quilt and wall hanging is finished. Here is a quick picture I took.

We’re working and getting ready our two quilts, Blumish Two and Warhol’s Itch for travelling. The quilt sandwich for our H-3 is together. Black Sulky thread is on order. And work continues on the construction of the crocheted blocks for our new Afghan #5.

Day 64 - (AD 494) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.5 Miles – Halfway Across Australia On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled another 21.5 miles on my Schwinn 170. The countdown clock cannot be stopped. Right now I have the feelings of trying to get to sleep on a Christmas Eve…knowing that a sled will be landing. Amazing and focused. Just 24 hours to go.

Well this morning on my virtual Trek travelling Australia I passed and turned southwest on to the Eyre Highway at the small town of Kimba, population of about 640. And yes a wee bit before I turned is Halfway Across Australia. Check the sign. The marker A is where I began this morning. B is where I am now located and D marks the spot – Halfway Across Australia.

I am becoming more and more cynical as I listen to people who are “so, so nice” but truly only out for themselves. It is hard for me to understand. I try not to read a person when I meet or work with someone. But when it occurs, time and time again, I cannot stop letting it bother me in the sense that I become despondent. I find that I begin to retreat more and more into myself and then I do not have the impetus to continue that which I want to accomplish. Not searching for pity, but I am just amazed at what I have learned over these number of years of how there are those people in all walks of life who truly are, and two words I can think of off the cuff, inconsiderate. And the other one, bastard. (Just venting.)

And of course there is synchronicity. As I penned the above paragraph I checked a message online. And thank you Debra for sending me the link to Leo Babauta’s online book The One Skill – How Mastering the Art of Letting Go Will Change Your Life. Pay it forward.

Must be time to play my piano.

Our H-2 quilt and wall hanging is completed. Of course the sleeve and the label will be attached. That is two down, H-1 and H-2. The quilting work has now begun on our third of the series, H-3. We believe that we have narrowed down the titles…and yes there will be a double entendre.

Day 63 - (AD 493) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.4 Miles – Somewhere In South Australia On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled 21.4 miles on my Schwinn 170. And yes I am closing in on my goal. I have completed 99.57%. Looks like Saturday will be the time for inaudible fireworks.

My virtual Trek has me now located, going northwest, on Cowell Road.  I cannot tell you where I really am except that it does appear that the landscape is somewhat desert with some scrub.  From the Google satellite it does look like there is some arable land.  It looks like I am just one day from a location called Halfway Across Australia - Kimba.  Seriously.

I am going to be short today.  I'm thinking about the next 10,000.

This sums up The Pack four times over...especially Radar.

And it is further accentuated as the summer is just over the horizon and the patio doors to the pool deck are always open.  I believe the Radar has any family links or connections to every other type of dog with a loud voice.

Can anyone tell me why one of my undergraduate majors was Social Psychology?  What could I have been thinking 40-plus years ago?
