Day 96 – (AD 526) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.8 Miles – Still in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled, once again on my Schwinn 170 21.8 miles.

My fat percentage is still on a downward trend; the red line on the chart. And I now have 651 miles remaining to get to my next destination and goal point. At my current rate I should arrive there in about a month or around the 4th of July.

I am still located, (I guess there is no other place to be in this part of Western Australia), on the Eyre Highway. The scenery is about the same. One word – Dry. I am east about 250 miles from the town of Norseman. The average rainfall currently recorded for Norseman in June is about 1.205 inches. What word did I use? Dry?

Today’s Saint of the Day is St. Boniface of Mainz. And he is the patron saint of brewers. I have a naïve question. Why are the last three saints that I have identified, without any method to my madness, been designated as patrons of brewers? St. Boniface and the two St. Augustines?

All 120 blocks have been completed for our new crocheted Afghan #5.  The design and placement of all blocks are done.  Now starts the joining and sewing together of the blocks and strips. The three colors used are Ocean, Lace, and Off-White. Oh and I just liked this image... In my mind's eye it allows a fluid motion of the whole piece.

Day 95 – (AD 525) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.4 Miles – Just A Bit Past Cocklebiddy in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

And this morning I cycled and pedaled 21.4 miles on my Schwinn 170.

My virtual location for those of you following my Trek is...I am still on the Eyre/National Highway and now a bit west of Cocklebiddy. Cocklebiddy is another small roadhouse community and it is known for its underground caves and lakes. I suppose all, if any, water drains down to the underground lakes.

Thanks CN for suggesting Les Revenants (The Returned) as my viewing companion while I cycle. This French series is somewhat similar to The 4400 with a much darker twist. The visual scenery is very good and I do like the pace of the French, with subtitles of course. That was the first part of my cycling. Next I switched across the Channel to Fawlty Towers and Basil is trying to communicate with Manuel in his bastardized Spanish. French, English, and Spanish while cycling.


Can someone please explain something to me? Why are there persons on social media sites, (one would hope beyond the age of maturity), who feel that they have to make irrational and and unfounded comments? The one thing that social media has brought to light is that there are so many people hoping around on a single foot, taking only a moment-in-time to rest, open wide, and change feet. (Oh and a moment-in-time is a propositional phrase.)


And I tried to create a variation on Khao Mau Gai.  The Chicken breast was poached in a ginger, garlic, chicken broth.  The rice was steamed with the same plus pickled peppercorns.  The plate looked pretty bland. But the sauce was a concoction of Soya sauce, vinegar, red chilies, garlic, ginger, Garlic Black bean paste and sugar.  Damn, I could make a meal of the sauce on its own!

Day 94 – (AD 524) – Jim's Trek Part III – 20.6 Miles – I Reached 10,618.6 Miles in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I cycled 20.6 miles on my Schwinn 170. My total miles to date have now reached 10,618.6; 17,089.0 kilometers.

Well it looks like there is some more scrub vegetation at my location on the Eyre Highway in Western Australia. I now have 694 more miles to go to get to my next goal and destination point.

Have you ever awakened from a deep sleep in which you were so exhausted from the dream that you were having? My resolution, go back to sleep and dream something poles apart. And I woke up relaxed.

I continue writing every morning and I have now reached beyond the 250,000 word mark, actually 251,398 in 329 days. I have also been awarded the level of Pterodactyl.  (Don't ask.)

Well they are back in the news… "Raelians Want An Embassy For Aliens in Canada" (The Huff Post Politics Canada, 6/2/2014). 

Shouldn’t they be asking for one designed for extraterrestrials? I mean the definition that I found online “a foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living.”

And did not Ottawa ignore their, that is, the Raelians’ request in the 1990s? Rob Ford are you listening? Ô Canada! Terre de nos aïeux…

Day 93 – (AD 523) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.6 Miles – Sort of Bored in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled 21.6 miles on my Schwinn 170. Today on my 93rd day of Jim’s Trek III I have now pedaled 1,980.9 miles; 3,188.0 kilometers. My total cycling is now just short two miles of my 10,600 mile mark. And yes I am still trying to keep up with 150 sit-ups daily.

My virtual journey on the Eyre Highway has me located west of the roadhouse community of Madura in Western Australia.

And of course the media runs. The media in this case and I think it is appalling that the errors were made. From the Orlando Sentinel, 02-Jun-14, the headline reads "Winter Park High School yearbook errors draw rebuke".

My question, if a high school yearbook is a visual and printed/published celebration of the memories and successes of a time spent learning, what was really learned? In a day when spell-check and grammar-check are available at the touch of a keyboard/mouse, what exactly is the Florida education system teaching?

Day 92 – (AD 522) – Jim's Trek Part III – 21.3 Miles – Still in Western Australia on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

On the 1st day of June 2014 I cycled 21.3 miles on my Schwinn 170. This is my 522nd day pedaling since I began on December 2, 2012. To date I have now pedaled 10,576.4 miles; 17,021.1 kilometers. And I am still going.

On my virtual Trek I do believe that I am in a part of Western Australia on the Eyre Highway that must be somewhat desolate. I noticed that the image provided by Google Maps was marked November 2007. This is obviously a stretch of road that does not change too, too much.

Today is Flip a Coin Day…and this was supposed to have been started possibly back in the times of Julius Caesar.

Oh I get it. The Roman Senate could not figure out the order of the months Juno or Julius, and some toga dude blurted out “Let’s flip a coin”. Heads, Julius. Tail, Juno. Et tu Brutus.

Well it is true that one can buy almost everything via the Internet, but I’m really not going to go there. And as today is the 1st day of our hurricane season, I thought it might be apropos to find those items that may…or may not, help one to try, that is, try to keep dry while the heavens open up and the downpour hit us at the most appropriate times. This one is specifically for Anastasia Beaverhausen and MCB. Yes the Shoebrellas are available. Methinks that they are only guaranteed to keep 10% of your shoe dry. What about the other 90%?
