Our Cranes Quilt update –

The top has been completed. The sandwich has been constructed. And now on to the quilting design.

Andy and I are very pleased at this point of our design and construction. We've included strip-piecing, AccuQuilt-cutting, appliqué, and piecing.

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

Following the article “Where There Were No Food Halls, Tampa Suddenly Has Two”, Food & Wine, David Landsel, Feb 6, 2018 we decided to go to lunch at The Hall on Franklin, (107 N. Franklin).

The ambience was nice, predominantly millennials. Choices of bar seating, high tops, table and/or couches. It is a quick step from Tampa’s Stetson Law University.

The service was excellent.

The food, we tried Lobster Pops; Crab Mac & Cheese; Waffle Fries; Nacho Fries (a mistaken order by the server; and Chicago Dog. Needless to say, the food was passable as prepared by the mini-restaurants.

Would I return. Yes, just to try some other items from the various menus.

Day 350 – (AD 1,512) – 24.5 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Sometimes I need to stop and just look.

From my “overgrown” and frost-bitten garden.

And yes, I am continuing my almost daily regime of cycling my Schwinn 170 for 60 minutes at a time. This morning I pedaled 24.5 miles. Totals are now at – 32,275.7 miles; 51,942.8 kilometers.

I have completed 9.35% of the 820 miles of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

Quilting –

Our New Cranes Quilt update –

All Cranes have been incorporated/pieced into our background for our latest Cranes Quilt.

Andy and I are now working on a complimentary design for the quilting pattern. (You know when you have a semblance of an idea in your mind and it takes a wee bit of time to bring it out.) Here's hoping.

Also, we have been working on some more designs for a couple of new Cranes Quilts. As always, we do seek permission from the original artists to use/incorporate and/or create our inspiration based on their "identified" work(s).

And yes, using our designed AccuQuilt die has now reduced our original time of creating a paper-pieced Crane block from 3 hours down to 15 minutes. Each Crane block is composed of 17 pieces.

Soapbox –

As #45 is making “waves” asking, demanding, commanding, an American Armed Forces parade, (his intent, in my opinion, is supercilious), I just keep wondering if his demands may be some sort of front to something else that he may be covering up. I am curious if there is something afoot?

Is he thinking that he may not have a table "huge-enough" at his current abode that could outdo the one in "House of Cards"?

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

And what does one make with Chrysanthemum Leaves? Or for that matter, with Tung Ho? Well I made Urukmaeuntang

I am trying something different, once again. Fermented Daikon Pickles.

And I broke my Oxygen-Extractor Pump. A new one's on its way.

Day 349 – (AD 1,511) – 24.3 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

And who says that our mentality has not changed after so many centuries?

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 24.3 miles. My totals are now recorded at 32,251.2 miles; 51,903.4 kilometers.

I have now completed 6.47% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.

Reading –

Flat-Earth Rocketeer Fails to Launch (Again)”, Live Science, Rafi Letster, Feb 5, 2018

"Mad" Mike Hughes, a flat-Earth conspiracy theorist who has managed to get significant attention for his now-repeated failed rocket launches, strapped himself into his second homemade rocket Saturday (Feb. 3). But, as Noize TV documented in an excruciating 11-minute livestream of the event, Hughes' rocket never left its pad…

"It's just aggravating," he told a small crowd of reporters. "I mean, what do you do?"”
Again?

Again?

Again!

New Cranes Quilt update -

We're working on the incorporation of the Cranes into our background. Not as easy as it looks, especially as each Crane has its unique place in the background.

Also, we've begun experimenting with quilting for the overall quilt. This should prove some-what interesting.

Day 348 – (AD 1,510) – 26.1 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 26.1 miles. Totals 32,226.9 miles; 51,864.3 kilometers.

And I have now completed, adjusted for the correct calculations, 3.61% of the distance to my next goal and destination point.

Viewing Companion –

While I cycle on my Schwinn 170 I tend to watch non-commercial TV to allow me to quickly pass my 60 minutes. Most recently I have been watching “Taken” from NBC. I did like the first season, but there has been a change in the story line(s) in the second season. The 1st season was somewhat like “Homeland”. The 2nd season is now, in my opinion, a sort of carbon copy of “Scandal”.

Soapbox –

One side says, “deliberately misleading” the other (albeit #45) “totally vindicates him”.

The 45th game of political syntactic spinning continues, and continues, and continues.

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

Last night I prepared a supper that I think I will duplicate, in some form any type in the future.

Roasted Bratwurst with Peppers and Onions; Sour Cream Buttered Potatoes; Sauerkraut; Persian Pickles; and Sourdough Raisin Rye Whole Wheat with Caraway and Fennel Seeds Bread.

And yes, I did not burn the Brownies.

I astonished myself when I realize that excepting the stuffing of the Bratwurst I created the complete meal.
And if I don’t commend myself, not including Andy, who will?

Yes, we eat well. And my blood sugar dropped 4 points.

Oh yeah, I ordered my Girl Scout Cookies. Samoas are my downfall.

Days 346 & 347 – (AD 1,509) – 25.5 + 25.3 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

On Thursday past I pedaled my Schwinn 170 25.5 miles. This morning I pedaled another 25.3 miles. The totals’ board: 32,200.8 miles; 51,822.3 kilometers.

And I have now completed the distance to my next destination point and goal, the Escalante Crater.

Also, I continued for an additional 4.6 miles, or about 1.08% of the new distance. My next new goal point and destination cycling on from Escalante Crater is Aeolis Mons, aka Mount Sharp. This is a long distance and will take a wee bit of time. The distance, according to WolframAlpha is 850 miles.

I now have 6,000.8 miles remaining to pedal on my Schwinn 170 on the face of the Red Planet.

Reading –

I’m bored.

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

The night before last for supper I had to make Chili. This was sort of “what JKLS has got in the fridge and the pantry goes in the pot” type Chili.

For supper last night it was Stir-fired Chicken Bok Choy and Leeks.

This morning I am trying a new concoction in my bread making; Raisin Rye Fennel and Caraway Seeds Whole Wheat Sourdough. Should be a mouthful.

And if you want the recipe you'll have to ask.
