Good Day,
Hallelujah!
I have both my desktop and notebook PCs back in the house! It has only taken just about 1 month to finally get the issues corrected. Here's hoping. I sort of having to learn how to re-use the functions and programs that I set up in order to help me with my Trek.
In the meantime, I did make it to Lambert Crater on Mars. I have continued on 59.4 miles on my way to my new destination at Denning Crater. The distance between Lambert and Denning Crater, per WolframAlpha is 300 miles.
To date I have covered 3.894.6 miles on Part V of Jim's Trek.

Day 194 – (AD 1,356) – 21.7 Miles Yesterday – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170
Good Day,
What can I say? I still do not have either my desktop nor my notebook. Both in the shop; two completely different issues. It is a wonder what I have had to do to "amuse" myself without two key components of my life. At least I do have my iPad and my iPhone. But I can tell you that it is certainly a challenge.
And without my desktop or a fully functioning notebook for almost the complete month of May Pageviews to Jim's Trek dropped by 3,035, from April's 10,287. Certainly tells me something regarding this world we are in and the iota of my funtionality in this telecommunication revolution.
And for that reason I just recorded my stats yesterday on my Schwinn 170. All-things-being-equal I will be able to post and bring myself back into the technical communication world tomorrow. I am currently borrowing another PC to update all that I can today.
Yesterday I was able to cycle 21.7 miles in my allocated 1 hour time slot on my Schwinn 170. Totals are now at 28,796.2 miles; 46,343.1 kilometers.
And on Mars I have traveled, yet to be determined, 59.45 miles to my next destination and goal point.
Reading -
I noticed an article on FoxNews Tech, (yes, I sometimes gander at FoxNews), an article by Mike Wehner date June 1, 1017, "Scientists may have found evidence of a parallel universe".

I noticed an article on FoxNews Tech, (yes, I sometimes gander at FoxNews), an article by Mike Wehner date June 1, 1017, "Scientists may have found evidence of a parallel universe".
When gazing into the heavens, scientists spotted what they refer to as a "cold" area of space. It was observed some time ago, and explaining it proved difficult, but a 2015 study suggested it was merely an area of the universe in which the number of galaxies is dramatically lower than the rest. Unfortunately, subsequent investigations couldn't support that finding, and a new study by Durham University suggests the slim possibility that it's actually evidence of parallel universes is still on the table. The first thing a thought of was Bizarro from Superman.

Day 193 – (AD 1,355) – 20.4 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170
Good Day,
This morning I pedaled 20.4 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals now stand at 28,774.5 miles, 46,308.2 kilometers.
I cannot write too much this morning as apart from the fact that my desktop PC is in the shop awaiting for the new case, I have to take my HP Notebook into the shop, once again. The Windows 10 1703 upgrade is a pain in the bloody ass.
Last night for supper I made a Pastitsio, courtesy of Ina Garten's recipe.
Take a look at the process images.
And yes it was good, very, very good.

Day 192 – (AD 1,354) – 20.0 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170
Good Day,
Today I cycled my Schwinn 170 another 20.1 miles. Today was a struggle and I truly thought that I would not reach my 20 miles plus within my hour time frame. I did. My totals now stand at 28,754.1 mile; 46,275.3 kilometers. I have also completed 75.27% of my intended goal. (The only thing is that that percentage number just doesn't seem to move as fast as I would like it to.
And today I reached my goal of Lambert Crater on Mars. I actually went a bit further but as I do not have my desktop as yet I cannot provide a new destination and goal point. If my calculations are correct, based on the last leg of my journey I have pedaled 17.2 miles beyond.
Am spending a good part of my time re-creating the Brunhammer Doherty Family Tree using the Ancestry.com Family Tree program. I have been a strong proponent in the past of not putting genealogical information on any subscription service. I always felt since I began working with genealogy around 2003 that I should be the one control of that information. Let me tell you something, Ancestry.com has come a long way since then.
I am following two specific guidelines and holding fast to them. One is that I will not put any information on the Ancestry.com Family Tree database that is a specific reference to any persons currently living. That is key and an important rule to follow. My second rule is that I will NOT "link" to any online information in any other family tree unless it is properly sourced and cited. This means that if there ain't proof it isn't going in any of my family trees.
I can also add a third and a fourth rule. The third is that I have checked the ability of the ged.com facility in order to download the information that I include on the Ancestry.com tree. The purpose for this is to make sure that I can collect my information and data should I decide to close my Ancestry.com subscription membership. (I have been a constant Ancestry member since the year 2001.
The fourth rule is that I make sure that I read the fine print and make sure that I have chosen the option that does not relinquish control of my historical data to Ancestry.
The family tree is the Brunhammer Doherty Family Tree. If you would like access to the tree you will need an invitation from me. You can sign up with Ancestry, and from what I understand, WITHOUT having to take a membership subscription. Feel free to contact me at jsmith58@gmmail.com.

Day 191 – (AD 1,353) – 20.0 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170
Good Day,
This morning I got on my Schwinn 170 and cycled another 20.0 miles. My totals now stand at 28,734.0 miles; 46,243.0 kilometers. According to my calculations, I have now completed 75.22% of my total goal of 38,201.6 miles. All-in-all, and averaging 20 miles each time I should complete my overall Trek in about 457 cycling days.
Also according to my calculations, I am now 0.7% of the distance from Lambert Crater, m next destination and goal point on Mars. (Still no return of my desktop for PCLand.) Guess I'll have to choose a new destination and goal point or take to the air for a time being while I wait to get my Google Mars program back again.
Soapbox -
Check out the direction of the lines on the graph.
Looks like we're still in for a wild ride.
And I have completed the 8th recipe from Milk Street - Japanese Potato Salad.
Outstanding!
OPOY update - The background quilting has been completed. The outlining/highlighting of each strip is taking some time. We had to decide which looked the best from a distance yet at the same time created a fix for the possibility of "fraying" sides.

Day 190 – (AD 1,352) – 20.7 Miles Today – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170
Good Day,
Yes, I am back.
I took 13 days off from cycling or exercising. Some sort of bacterial infection in my lower intestine. After all the tests and labs, and symptoms similar to kidney stones, doctors ruled that it was/had to be some bacterial infection.
And this morning, after receiving the clearance signal, I cycled my Schwinn 170 20.7 miles. My totals, I still keep a record, are 28,714.0 miles; 42,210.8 kilometers.
My desktop is at the shop being fixed. The on/off button broke which means I need a completely new case...and when I have a desktop PC that is customized, well you get the picture. (Actually, the thought...) And I am waiting, which means I cannot use Google Earth, albeit Google Mars on my notebook because that program is on my desktop.
So I have adapted. I am now 94.4% from the center of Lambert Crater. The "x" is my current location, on Mars.
"The GOP inherits what Trump has wrought", The Washington Post, By Karen Tumulty and Robert Costa May 26, 2017.
We're working on our latest quilt, OPOY. The dimensions are approximately 70" long by 63" wide. This is a very new and different experiment and we are definitely liking the results.
I began a challenge to myself last week. As I love to cook, and I was able to get a copy of Christopher Kimball's latest endeavor and magazine "Milk Street", I thought that it may be somewhat a hoot to try my luck and try to replicate, as close as possible, almost all the recipes presented. To date, I have accomplished and eaten 7 of the recipes.
Two nights ago I made and devoured Hummus Masabacha (Israeli Hummus) with Kawarma (Spiced Beef Topping). I added a Carrot, Radish, and Red Onion Salad.
Yes, the plates were cleaned. And yes the bread was fresh from the oven.
Keep healthy,
Jim
