Days 22 - 25 (AD 1844) – 99.6 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day,

Today is the 1,844th day that I have been cycling on my Schwinn Fitness Cycle. That is 1,844 days and 1,844 1-hour sessions, the equivalent of 40,391.5 miles.

Not bad for an aged man at the ripe age of 67 years.

Over the last 4 sessions, 22 through 25, I pedaled 99.6 miles. And I am still traveling in South Africa.

Day 25

Something to think about -

Is it polite to add your two-cents to a group conversation when you know absolutely nothing about the topic(s) being discussed?

Jim's Gotta Eat -

Last night's supper was certainly a new and amazing taste fest. Cabbage Pie with Tomato Sauce.

Days 16 - 21 (AD 1840) – 141.9 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day,

Well I guess it was bound to happen after about 25,000 miles on my Schwinn 170. I have pedaled 40,291.9 miles on 2 Schwinn Fitness cycles.

My clues that there must be something wrong and/or broken with the electronic portion of the “gears” of my Schwinn 170 are:

1. I am no longer sweating over the 60 minutes that I pedal each session, 5-times a week.

2. There appears to be no response any longer when I try to adjust the resistance programs of my Schwinn 170.

3. There may be possible effect which may tie to the increase in my diabetes blood sugar count. Just a guess. It appears that when I was exercising and sweating my blood sugar numbers were kept under control. Again, just a guess, but a coincidental comparison.

It looks like I will need a new Fitness Cycle to complete the remaining 9,708.1 miles.

Over the last 6 pedaling days I cycled 141.9 miles. I am now on my 1,840th day of pedaling my Schwinn Fitness Cycle.

Here is a small collection of images, from Google Maps, of my stops along my Trek in South Africa.

Quilts SB Update -

Days 11 to 15 (Day 1834) – 5 Days 124.1 Miles on my Schwinn 170

Good Day,

I’ve consolidated 5 days of cycling on my Schwinn 170 together for this post. I cycled 124.1 miles over the 5 days. And since December 2, 2012, I have now cycled 1,834 days. I want to say that this is now a habit.

Here is my current location.

I have cycled on my Schwinn 170 40,150.0 miles over 1,834 days. Based on my calculations I now have 9,850.0 miles remaining to reach my overall goal of 50,000 miles.

Something to think about –

I decided to clean out the master walk-in closet.

I entered to closet. Looked around.

I took a wire hanger for the wardrobe rod. I put the wire hanger in the garbage can.

I closed the closet door.

I finished cleaning the walk-in closet… for today.

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

Supper last night -

Chili Shrimp, Rocket and Peas Pasta with Dark Cherry Coconut Lime Dump Cake.

We’ve finished 2 new quilts. Once delivered, I’ll be posting pictures and journalizing them on our Quilts SB.

Days 9 & 10 (AD 1829) – 50.8 miles Cycled on my Schwinn 170 – I Have Now Topped 40,000 Miles

Good Day,

On Monday and Tuesday, I pedaled 50.8 miles on my Schwinn 170. As Grandpa is taking care of 2 grandsons for the next 2 days, I figure my cardio exercise will be taken care of.

To date in South Africa I have pedaled a total of 243.6 miles. Overall on this planet, Mars, and Africa, my total mileage is now 40,025.9. Only 9,974.1 more miles to go.

Something to think about –

Our Orenda Coffee Machine Down-Date

This morning we decided to retire our Orenda Coffee Machine.

After 450 cups of coffee, at 96¢ a cup, it appears that the Orenda Coffee company may have pulled some real snafu.

1st, the Orenda application stopped working. I am now longer able to control the Coffee Machine from my iPhone. When I tried to reboot the app, I was informed that my account no longer existed. I contacted, via email, the Orenda company.

2nd, I received no reply or response.

On June 2nd, yesterday I received an email from Orenda.

"Orenda Follow-up Update #2.

(I'm still waiting for #1.)

Hi Jim,

Hope this update finds you well.

(What a crock!)

To solve all the problems that we have discussed for everyone, it's necessary for us to complete the fundraising process.

(This translates to the fact that they cannot keep up with production requests.)

We met many investors who suggested that we start anew without honoring the promise of refunds.

(I never asked for a refund once I received our Orenda Coffee machine.)

It would have been easier to say, but that would defeat the purpose.

(What purpose?)

We have learned a lot and will continue to focus on making right."

(What a bunch of unmitigated BS.)

La, de, da, de, da, de, da...

This morning we started using our new Mr. Coffee One-Touch Machine.

Damn, the 1st Latte was good and hot!

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 25.6 miles on my Schwinn 170 .

This morning I headed south. I was able to reach Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point in in South Africa. The Cape marks the boundary between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

I then retraced my path and headed what appears to be north. I am now on R319.

To date in South Africa I have pedaled a total of 192.8 miles. Overall on this planet, Mars, and Africa, my total mileage is now 39,975.1. Only 10,024.9 more miles to go.

Something to think about –

Jim’s Gotta Eat –

Tonight, we’re having a 2nd Thanksgiving at our house. The Turkey is roasting in the oven right now. The house is filled with the aroma of pavo/dinde/peru/tacchino.

Something to think about –

This morning I was blasted with a very different way to start an FB day. I received a friend request to join an Illuminati group.

First time I’ve ever received such an invitation. When I quickly scanned the page I noticed that there profile picture included a large statue of Baphomet.

Am I interested? Hell no!

Quilts SB -

Days 51 through 63 and Days 1, 2 & 3 (AD 1823) – Mars is Gone and I Begin Jim’s Trek VII

Good Day,

Finally, I believe all the issues with my PC may have been resolved. (Knock on wood.)

On May 21st I jetted from Mars and landed somewhere in Cape Town, South Africa. So I say good bye to the uninhabited red dirt of Mars and hello to the Continent of Africa. This is the beginning of Jim’s Trek VII.

My last 13 days on Mars covered 311.7 miles. Overall at the conclusion of Jim’s Trek VI I covered 39,782.3 miles.

On my first 3 days in South Africa I have pedaled on my Schwinn Fitness cycle 66.0 miles.

I landed in Cape Town, South Africa

I'm at the corner of Scholtz Road

I'm at mile 66 on Hangklip Road

I now have 10,151.7 miles remaining to go to reach my 50,000-mile goal.

To date since December 2, 2012 I have pedaled 39,848.3 miles over a period of 1,823 days.

I am still pedaling 5 days a week for a complete hour each time.

Days 35 through 50 – (AD 1,808) – 405.9 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part VI – Still on Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

I am back. I have kept up with my cycling on my Schwinn Fitness Cycle. Over the last 15 days, I have pedaled my Schwinn 405.9 miles. My schedule is still, as best as possible, 1 hour a day, 5 days a week.

Yesterday morning I pedaled 25.1 miles on my Schwinn 170. I am now located a 58.98% of my present distance between 2 points.

My overall goal is now to complete 50,000 miles. To date I have completed 39,470.6 miles; 63,521.9 kilometers.

I am still on Mars, and I have not been posting to my Jim’s Trek blog as regularly as I have. I felt that my current path of red Mars dust may just be a wee bit boring.

You will have to tune in to where I will jet to next when I complete my total journey on Mars. Jim’s Trek VI, as of yesterday now has 10,529.4 miles remaining.
