Day 58+40 – (AD 1,220) – 19.8 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Something to watch –

A quiet relaxed 18-minute way to begin a new week...

Digital Trends, by Trevor Mogg, October 31, 2016 – “Check Out This Stunning Cinematic Tour of The International Space Station

This morning I cycled another 19.8 miles on my Schwinn 170.

I began my 5/6 days a week cycling on my Schwinn fitness cycle. I am trying to assist the downward journey of my early morning blood sugar count. I still do NOT want to start taking the chemicals again. It has been almost 2 ½ years since I stopped the diabetes medication. I know age may be an undeniable factor, but with the level of cardio exercise and diet, I should be able to forgo the poisons.

My totals today are now at: 26,052.0 miles; 41,926.7 kilometers.

I have now completed 62.7% of the distance to Coogoon Valles on Mars (of course). Overall I have completed 8.65% of the total distance that I intend to cycle, virtually, on this planet. Guess I must start scoping out for my next destination and goal point.

On a more pleasant side –

We designed (sort-of) and begun the construction of a new queen-size quilt – Blue Hearts. This is not an original design and the pattern for multiple sizes is available for free on the Internet. Out design work is the fabric colors and coordination. I’ll be posting the details at Quilts SB when we begin the write-ups.

The powers that be keep me baking bread. These two are White Whole Wheat Sourdough… and it is the same culture of sourdough starter I started one year ago.

And on a positive note, I haven’t bought any bread, shy of tortillas and hot-dog buns, in just over 1 year.

Day 57+40 – (AD 1,219) – 20.2 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – October Over 6,000 Pageviews On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Two days left in the month and I have toppled the 6,000-Pageview mark. This morning I checked; 6,232 Pageviews. What happened?

The above chart shows two months running where Jim’s Trek has excelled in Pageviews. Either there is something wrong with Google Blogger or else. It’s the “or else” that I have no explanation.

This morning I cycled 20.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals: 26,0352.2 miles; 41,894.8 kilometers.

And on Mars, on this 1219th day of pedaling, I have realized that my insignificant Jim’s Trek blog has received 112,333 Pageviews. Say what? (And yes this is the number of Pageviews that Google Blogger recorded this morning when I checked.)

Day 56+40 – (AD 1,218) – 19.8 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V –26,012.0 Miles On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I turned over 26,000 miles.

Today I pedaled 19.8 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals: 26,012.0 miles; 41,862.3 kilometers.

And I am continuing my Trek on the planet Mars, in my virtual world… Some persons may denote this as my brain’s aging process. I see and feel this as me-sans-any-diabetic-medications, period.

Day 55+40 – (AD 1,217) – 20.0 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yeah, my desktop is fixed.  Cause of crash - Windows 10 update.  But I am still using Windows 10.

The error was a blue screen and a complete looping reloads which would not correct itself.  Windows 10 operating system had to be reloaded.

This morning I pedaled 20.0 miles on my Schwinn 170. My current totals are now: 25,992.2 miles; 41,830.5 kilometers.

To date, I have now completed 8.2% of the total distance that I intend to pedal on Mars. (That’s the virtual part of my journey; Part V.) Overall I have finished 68.0% of my expected mileage goal… and I have been doing this for almost 4 years.

My early morning blood sugar was down, but it was up when I stabbed my finger to draw that minuscule globule of blood. My calculated A1c is now 5.46%. I am still, per WebMD within the normal range of levels between 4.0% and 5.6%... but my daily blood sugar count has been inching upward ever so slowly. And I do NOT want to go back on the diabetes medications. So, I guess I should do something.

I read this article

Exercise vs. diabetes: New level of detail uncovered. (MedicalNewsToday.com, Tim Newman, 18 October 2016)

A new study, published this week in the journal Diabetologia, takes a deeper look at the role of exercise in the development of type 2 diabetes. It is the most in-depth study to examine exercise independent from other influential factors, such as diet. The conclusions from the report are clear:
‘This research shows that some physical activity is good, but more is better.'… According to the analysis, cycling or walking briskly for 150 minutes, each week cuts the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 26 percent. Those who exercise moderately or vigorously for an hour each day reduced their risk by 40 percent. At the other end of the scale, for those who did not manage to reach the 150-minute target, any amount of physical activity they carried out still reduced the risk of type 2 diabetes, but to a lesser extent.

So it looks like I am going to increase the number of days that I cycle from 3-4 to 4-5 days a week. (All I can say is that it worked before in my Parts I, II, III, and IV.)

Day 54+40 – (AD 1,216) – 20.2 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – Thinking On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled 20.2 miles on my Schwinn 170. Grand totals equal: 25,972.2 miles; 41,798.3 kilometers.

And yes I can only keep my sanity as I travel in/on my virtual Trek on the planet Mars.  Today I have now traveled 28.1% of the distance to my next destination and goal point.  I keep going and going. and going.

Thoughts -

I have not been keeping a good account of my blood sugar count.  It still keeps inching upward, point by point.  This morning's early morning reading recorded at 129 mg/dL.  I am still not taking any diabetes medications, neither do I want to be shackled by the chemicals used to give a "false" sense of security.  And therefore it is necessary that I examine the methods and means of my exercise and my diet, once again.

I'm also trying to grasp a reasoning of substance as to the reason I am designing quilts; (to some fabric art).  My thoughts are not necessarily cogent and I truly am searching a base purpose "why?"

This is my 1,320th post. According to Blogger Jim’s Trek has recorded, as of this writing, 110,962 Pageviews.

At the current rate, according to Google Blogger, there have been, once again more Pageviews per day recorded for Jim's Trek. So far for the first 23 days of October there have been 4,891.  And at this rate I should top over 6,000 Pageviews for the whole month.  Just check the chart.  Unless something is wrong somewhere someplace o this planet this just seems to be an upward trend that indicates that more people are checking out my progress.  Thanks to all.

Day 53+40 – (AD 1,215) – 21.8 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled 21.8 miles on my Schwinn 170. Grand totals equal: 25,952.0 miles; 41,765.8 kilometers.

My virtual trip continues on Mars. (I trully wish at this moment of time, with only a couple of weeks before the election, that there was available a one-way ticket to colonize the red planet.) I have now completed 19.3% of the distance to my next destination and goal point. Soapbox -

I thought I was a moderate liberal, but I think I have completely lost any type of comprehension of what is going on regarding this current Presidential campaign.

Is it possible that there are candidates who believe that they are greater than the qualifications and expectancies that the Consitution and the Bill of Rights have been so ratified? Are there candidates who believe themselves to be "genetically" beyond the typical American, who may or may not be qualified to run as the leader of one of the most influential countries on this small globe?

Referring to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged

"the character Hank Rearden was a supremely moral man whose faults sprang from his conflicts with the destructive moral code of his enemies, and an inability to understand the nature and purpose of those enemies. In Atlas, Rand literally cast the enemies of Rearden (and the other heroes of the novel) as seekers of death, people who truly did not want to live and whose primary goal was the destruction of all that was good, even in the face of the full knowledge that their own destruction would inevitably follow."

Are we headed in that same direction?

Day 52+40 – (AD 1,214) – 20.4 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled 20.4 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals are now; 25,930.2 miles; 41,730.7 kilometers.

I continued my Trek on Mars this morning... and then something went wrong with my Windows operating system while I was returning from space. Windows 10 appeared to be upgrading and subsequently got caught in a loop, of sorts.

I'm traveling in a void on Mars, my PC is floating in that vacuum.

Day 51+39 – (AD 1,213) – 20.1 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled 20.1 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals are now; 25,909.8 miles; 41,697.9 kilometers.

Today I made it to my destination and goal point, Oxia Colles. That is, of the 20.1 miles I pedaled this morning 17.9 miles is the remaining distance I needed to reach Oxia Colles.

The next and new goal and destination point is Coogoon Valles, which is, according to WolrframAlpha, 230 miles from Oxia Colles. And so the addition 2.2 miles on this morning’s trek can be applied to the distance to Coogoon Valles. I am now situated at 0.95% into that part of my next journey.

I have also now crossed the 1,008.2 mile-mark on the surface of Mars. Only 12,291.8 more miles to go.

Good Day,

And it looks like I am within one day of reaching my next goal and destination point on Mars. To date, I have finished 92.5% of the distance. I should reach Oxia Colles the next time I cycle on my Schwinn 170. Question is, where to next?

Day 49+38 – (AD 1,211) – 20.4 Miles – Jim’s Trek Part V – On My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I cycled 20.4 miles on my Schwinn 170. Totals are now 25,869.5 miles; 41,633.0 kilometers. I missed Monday’s cycling as I spent the morning with son and grandsons. (I’m sure I walked at least 5 miles.) Time spent much more important than time on my fitness cycle.

And yesterday I pressure-washed the pool deck. It appears to me that there has been a greater growth of various species of mold and in more abundance this year. Halfway through the job my pressure-washer physically fell apart. I mean the nuts and bolts, all three, just gave way. Off to the shop to be fixed. I then borrowed my neighbor’s machine and completed the deck. In total about 6 hours of cleaning…and exercise.

I have now completed 84.1% of the distance to my next destination and goal point. My journey on Mars has given me time to think and to wonder about the lack of natural and unnatural noises. And on my 48th day of pedaling, I have covered 967.9 miles on Mars.

"Prior to 1845, Congress permitted the States to conduct their presidential elections (or otherwise to choose their Electors) anytime in a 34-day period before the first Wednesday of December which was the day set for the meeting of the Electors in their respective States."

"Why the first Tuesday after the first Monday? Lawmakers wanted to prevent election day from falling on the first of November for two reasons. First, November 1st is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation for Roman Catholics. Second, most merchants were in the habit of doing their books from the preceding month on the 1st. Apparently, Congress was worried that the economic success or failure of the previous month might prove an undue influence on the vote!"

Good Day,

I am located at 24.4% of the distance away from Oxia Colles my next destination and goal point.

I’ve been glancing at a number of articles and links regarding Mars One. “Mars One is an organization based in the Netherlands that has proposed to land the first humans on Mars and establish a permanent human colony by 2024.

First of all, if it were at all a possibility and there is a possible venue for reincarnation I would hope that I would come back and be able to join the 2nd mission, a Mars Two.

The reason I say Mars Two is that I do not necessarily have any idea when I will take my departure from this planet in the short future, and I would presume that I would have to have at least the capability and the wherewithal to be able to be of age to join the said mission.

I also saw a video regarding dying on Mars, and it just got me wondering as I heard an interview with a possible candidate for the Mars One project, They were talking about the reality that the mission more than likely would be only a one-way mission.

My early morning blood sugar dropped 3 points today to 98 mg/dL and my A1C is now averaging 5.38%. According to the Mayo ClinicFor someone who doesn’t have diabetes, a normal A1C level is below 5.7 percent. Someone who’s had uncontrolled diabetes for a long time might have an A1C level about 8 percent.”  Guess I’m doing okay and with my consistent exercise and my diet… and NO diabetes medications. Period.

Good Day,

And today I did crossover the halfway mark on my way to Oxia Colles on Mars. I have completed 50.9% of my 240-mile goal.

Saturday I ate a sandwich.

The bread was made of a loaf I had baked. I took my first bite. It was a turkey and provolone sandwich with lettuce and tomato. I crunched down on something hard.

My first reaction: “Why is there a piece of bone in the sandwich?” I spit the mouthful out. It was my lower left-hand bridge with 2 crowns and a false tooth. It was a patch work after the car accident I was in, in 2000. Praise be I didn’t bite through the bridge and the crowns.

Later this morning, after my cycling, I spent time at the dentist. The false parts were cleaned and glued back on. Thank you Dr. EF. My chompers are fixed.
