Days 364 & 365 – (AD 1,527) – 49.1 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yesterday morning I pedaled 25.7 miles on my Schwinn 170. Today I cycled 23.4 miles. Totals are now at 32,639.6 miles; 52,528.4 kilometers.

I have now completed 52.17% of the journey to my next destination and goal point.

Found out from my Diabetes Doctor today that I have now reached the age where I should be drinking more water. She explained that dehydration is most definitely an issue with elder persons.

Lack of water can affect the Microalbumin/Creatinine ratio.

The acceptable range is less than 30. Mine is 294.

Something different –

Call #1 - "Hello this is Elizabeth..."

Call #2 - "I am calling Jeem Smeeth about his Windows software..."

Call #3 - "This is an important call regarding you overdue payment to the IRS..."

Call #4 - "Can I speak to James Smith regarding his Mastercard and VISA accounts..."

And as I type this guess who just called? It was the FemmeBot Sarah. And she was calling about my credit card service. I hit #1 and was connected with a middle-eastern sounding male. When I asked the caller as to what country he was calling from, he hung up.

I would like to invent a small snake-like lasso that could weave and wind itself through the wires, and strangle the callers of the ever increasing spams.

Day 363 – (AD 1,525) – 25.2 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 25.2 miles. My totals are now at 32,590.5 miles; 52,449.4 kilometers.

I’ve received several questions regarding the AD 1,525 number above. That is the number of days that I have been pedaling on my Schwinn Fitness cycles since December 2, 2012. Not every day of the week but a good consistent number of days. Calculating I believe I am averaging 21.37 miles every day.

And I have now completed 46.39% of the distance to my next destination and goal point on the surface of the Red Planet.

Something different –

As some of you may know I have always been a fan of languages. I do speak three: English, French, and Spanish. My mother-tongue is English. I spent the 1st 8 years growing up in Spanish countries. My family then moved to Quebec in Canada.

So, I have decided to supplement my Spanish, especially as I do live in Tampa. Further I have decided to learn Mandarin Chinese. Why? Why not.

I am using Rosetta Stone.

Quilting – https://quiltsb.blogspot.com/

We have come up with our design for a redo of the original base quilting for our quilt CQ.

Question - If we made a quilt a number of years ago, and then decided that we did not like the quilting, the top is fine, and then we decide to take out the quilting and redo and design a new quilting pattern, what would the date of completion?

The original date or the new one?

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled my Schwinn 170 22.5 miles. Totals are now standing at 32,523.3 miles; 52,341.3 kilometers.

And I have completed 38.48% of the 850-mile leg on the surface of the Red Planet.

Soapbox –

As a continuation of my discussion yesterday concerning what is posted on Social Media, it appears that several persons, who either lack the grey-matter between their two ears, or a just dense and stupid. They have been posting that a couple of the students from Parkland, who are speaking out, are actors.

They have gone to the extreme of using not credible information of cut-and-paste photos of the students or doppelgangers to pages of yearbooks.

This is what I was stating yesterday. It is incredible. Let alone, there are those persons who are continuing to link the “false” information to their Social Media postings.

Don’t these persons consider the ability to check for correct sources and details.

The NY Daily News for one published the article “Conspiracy that Florida shooting survivors are ‘actors’ easily debunked”, Christopher Brennan, February 21, 2018.

“One of those voting against it was the Tampa area’s Rep. Shawn Harrison, whose aide Benjamin Kelly told the Tampa Bay Times that Hogg and Gonzalez were actors.

Kelly was later fired, and Harrison said he was “appalled” by the comments.”

7 years ago, this was one of Andy’s and my first step into quilting. It was 1 of the 2 quilt kits that we ever attempted. We called it “CQ”, (CQ Country Quilt). Our quilting was non-existent, or should I say sad. CQ has stayed in the cupboard for years.

While waiting for some new Crane fabric, we’ve taken the old CQ apart and decided to re-design and create our own quilting design. Already working on pinning the quilt sandwich.

Soapbox –

There is, of late, news on all sorts of media regarding the Russian cyber-hacking of the US elections. I listened to an NPR interview regarding the elements of cyber-security relating to voting and ballot control.

Currently, that of the telecommunications revolution, it is prudent of organizations, political, government, corporate, and, private to ensure that their systems security is “well-guarded” as is possible. All the latest and greatest security features should be in place.

But one thing that I believe that was not addressed in the talk and interviews as the host and participants were presenting, was the issue(s) of social media and psychological, albeit, warfare.

Could it be a consideration that the cyber-hacking and psychological combat may have been based on hackers using and flooding social media with “fear-tactics” and “lies” regarding the election and the candidates.

Newsweek in their article by Nina Burleigh, January 8, 2018 “Trump Speaks At Fourth-Grade Level, Lowest of Last 15 U.S. Presidents, New Analysis Finds

Would it not be of a logical possibility that when one speaks at such a low level of vocabulary use and comprehension, s/he would more than likely “speak”, at a base level, that would appeal to a lesser educated following and/or “electoral populace”? Or putting it another way, could the telecommunications revolution have allowed for a “slick” and “devious” psychological bullying and fear-mongering?

Day 358 – (AD 1,520) – 25.1 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

We’re on the cusp of Spring and summer here in Tampa. And of course, the orchids a continuing to bloom.

This morning I cycled my Schwinn 170 25.1 miles.  And I felt fine. I figured out what I had done, excluding my Biorhythm Physical Cycle, to feel like I was in a daze, or something to that extent after I had pedaled for my set 1 hour.

It appears that earlier this week, when I was disturbing my weekly stash of meds, I had inadvertently placed one of my nighttime tabs incorrectly in with my morning meds. Makes on hell of a lot of sense, and why I was feeling “like out of it”. All fixed.

My totals now are 32,474.9 miles; 52,263.4 kilometers.

And I have completed 32.79% of the distance to my next goal point and destination.

Quiltinghttps://quiltsb.blogspot.com/

Our latest Cranes Quilt has been bound and blocked. Next to be done, the sleeve and the label. I will also have to photograph it.

I haven’t been updating our site Quilts SB as I am waiting and working on our Cranes Quilts Project. I do have to go through and see what other recently finished quilts I need to update.

Jim’s Gotta Eat https://jimsgottaeat.blogspot.com/

Well in trying different foods, which I prepared, of different ethnic backgrounds, I am beginning to see some sort of possible link to which types of foods may affect my blood sugar counts.

Two nights ago, I made a dish of Shrimp, Beans, and Chrysanthemum Greens on Jasmine Rice. (Ethnicity – Asian.) My next day fasting blood sugar count was 100 mg/dL.

Last night I made a dish of Chicken Fajitas with Rice and Beans. (Ethnicity – Mexican.) This morning’s fasting blood sugar count spiked up to 153 mg/dL.

Both nights, for dessert, I had a bowl of Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and 3 Girl Scout cookies. The night before I had a snack of Roasted Almonds versus last night I did not snack.

I going to prepare and try some more supper meals with various cultural influences. I’m curious as to what and where my blood glucose will hit the early morning scale.

Tonight the recipe is for Thai Chicken Noodle Soup.

Days 356 & 357 – (AD 1,519) – 49.2 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Yesterday I pedaled 24.1 miles on my Schwinn 170.  And today I cycled another, even though I did not want to, 25.1 miles. Totals now 32,449.8 miles; 51,223.0 kilometers.

And I have completed 29.84% of the distance to my next goal and destination.

Yesterday and this morning, even after pedaling I’m moving somewhat slow, sort of like in a haze.

Once I look at my biorhythm for my Physical cycle, I can now answer why.

My cycle hasn’t even reached the lowest it can go.

Quilting – https://quiltsb.blogspot.com/

Good Day,

How to Stay Positive (When the Art World Gets You Down)” from Artwork Archive

“You have to let past failures go. Everyone who’s ever lived has experienced failure, especially the greats. Your work is just your work, it’s not all that you are—it does not encompass all that makes you an incredible and dynamic human being.”

And from The Conversation, Thusha Rajendran’s article, dated 14 February, 2018, titled "Stuck in the past: the UK needs to produce creative thinkers not exam-passing machines".

“Young people are still being taught how to become exam-passing machines, rather than develop their ingenuity. They specialise early and see art and science as binary educational and career choices. They see educational success as a consumer might view a must-have new product on the market. They appreciate the cost of something, but not necessarily its value. It’s not their fault, it’s ours, the generations that have come before them.”

The current Administration, nationally, as well as Ms. DeVos, should take note. Period.

Cranes Quilt update - The quilting is beginning to create our composition.

Just wondering.

How many persons, albeit quilters, have already begun designing a pseudo-similar quilt to Michelle Smith’s rendition of her dress on her Michelle Obama official portrait?

I do like the essence that the dress does appear, in my opinion, to join together and communicate the present with the past in the world of quilting.

Dreaming –

Strange dream last night. Sort of like a comb-Harry Porter Whole Foods Amazon event.

I was at Whole Foods doing a bit of grocery shopping. I was looking for a Wedding Card. I kept meeting familiar friends in my dream and was amazed at the amount of shopping I was doing.

And looking for the Wedding Card, each time I spotted the aisle where cards were displayed, like the staircase at the Hogwarts, as I moved toward the aisle all the aisles would change.

For the life of me I just couldn’t get to the card aisle.

And then I woke up.

Tomorrow I celebrate 4/28 almost 29.

Day 353 – (AD 1,515) – 25.4 Miles –Jim’s Trek Part V – Mars on My Schwinn 170

Good Day,

Today I pedaled my Schwinn 170 25.4 miles. Totals now rack up at 32,350.6 miles; 52,063.3 kilometers. Only 5,876.4 miles to go.

And I have completed 18.17% through the red dust to my next goal point.

I then checked and watered the orchids. I am always amazed at the colors and the fragile strength of each blossom.

We started cleaning the front yard. Got to go slow because there are no full moons in February, but we will be hit with 2 in March. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac it looks like there may not be another freeze. Here’s hoping.
