Day 156 – (AD 1,061) – 24.1 Miles – Jim's Trek Part IV – Definitely On My Schwinn 170 Today

Good Day,

This morning I pedaled 24.1 miles on Schwinn 170. My totals are now 22,590.7 miles; 36,356.3 kilometers.

Google Maps now has me pinpointed at Via Umberto, 288, 98035 Giardini Naxos ME, Italy.

Check out the mirror. It looks like a reflection of the Google mobile.

33 ½ more miles and I will have virtually circumnavigated Sicily.

Today on the commercial equivalent of the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day we are celebrating a legal 1 year (albeit 26 years, 6 months less 2 days.)

7 things to know about St. Valentine’s Day.
1. The Romans might have been the first.
2. Valentine’s Day originally had more to do with death than love.
3. In all, there are about a dozen St. Valentines, plus a pope.
4. You can find Valentine’s skull in Rome.
5. An English poet, Geoffrey Chaucer, made it romantic.
6. A French court made it popular.
7. St. Valentine may be the combination of a few men.
And I have added a 8th.

It is a commercial scheme and marketing ploy to boost sagging (no pun intended) lingerie, chocolate/candy and greeting cards sales.

I am astounded how many people these days have a tendency to disregard and have a mistrust for others, especially strangers. One should be wary but it is so sad to go through life always preambling any thought with cynicism and trusting that every glass is half empty.

Rubio, Cruz and Carson should not even be considered for their disrespect of the current sitting President.

“Saying the nation owes it to Scalia's memory, Texas senator Ted Cruz tweeted that his colleagues should "ensure that the next President names his replacement."

Marco Rubio, a Florida senator, also said that "the next president" should pick a new justice in the mold of Scalia.

"Justice Scalia was one of the most consequential Americans in our history and a brilliant legal mind who served with only one objective: to interpret and defend the Constitution as written," Rubio said…

Another Republican presidential candidate, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, seconded Cruz and Rubio, saying the Senate not allow Obama to "diminish" Scalia's conservative legacy by nominating someone who would carry out president's wishes "to subvert the will of the people."”
